Today, when I talked online to my boyfriend, i asked the usual, how are you, and today he said "in pain" well, come to find out, he got cut deep and got 3 stitches in his thumb. Well, naturally, I said "are you all right??" (to which he replied "no") and then i asked "how did you cut yourself?" he replied, "can't tell you that, it's a secret" and I said "i wont tell" and he said "i cant f***in' tell you!!!!" why wont he say??? what do u think it could be that makes him not say???

He cut himself is a really, REALLY stupid manner and just doesn't want to tell you how. let it go at that

I am not sure how old you two are but, people keep secrets like this for one or two reasons:
1) someone is hurting them and they are too afraid to tell anyone else about
2) they are hurting themselves and don't want anyone to find out.
Keep being supportive and caring--don't try to force him to answer but let him know that you care about him and that you are there for him no matter what--that when he hurts you want to know about. Hopefully, he will begin to feel safe enough to open up to you. If something serious is going on (as mentioned above) DO NOT KEEP THE SECRET TO YOURSELF! It is better to break the trust of someone you care about when you know they need help than to keep your word and end up with the guilt of "what if" should something else of a serious possibly irreversable nature happens.

A very curious question. Perhaps it was a stupid mistake or he incurred this while being with someone else. If this was the case, he could certainly make up an excuse. If he were trying to commit suicide, he wouldn't cut his thumb, so that idea is out. The most obvious idea that comes to mind is that he is a member of a cult that subscribes to a ritual of slicing the thumb to obtain blood and he doesn't want you to know about it.

Ok...so I just stumbled upon your question, and I have to say it's a little strange. My question is, why do you care so much about a person who talks to you like that?! There's no reason for him to tell you to f*** off...especially when you are extending yourself by showing concern for him and his stupid finger. Find a new boyfriend who shows a little respect and stop wasting your time with this boob.

he is hurting, he is probably angry at what cut him, don't push him to tell you, it will make a bad situation. Just let him keep it to himself and if he some time later wants to tell you, he will. I really recommend backing off and not asking about it, you already showed your concern, that's all he needs to know is that you care.

he apparently did something wrong and possibly (most likely) stupid and he doesn't want to tell you because of some stupid reason that he doesn't even know what the reason is... he just might have been annoyed with everything that's going on...idk, there are too many possiblities for this behavior...i say just give him some air...he just might calm down...

ok, maybe it wasn't an accident and someone else did it. or maybe he is on meds and not right in the head at the moment. or thirdly, he's tired of you asking him. maybe he feels babied. good luck.

i dont know...but you're better off just letting it go and not asking him anymore, b/c you dont want to piss him off. If its something serious/tragic he'll tell you when hes ready.

Either it is something really stupid, therefore he is embarrassed about it.. or he was doing something he shouldn't have been doing, possibly something illegal, and he literally cannot tell you..
