does anyone know what it means to dream that you're a ghost /without/ dreaming about how you died?
here are some bits of my dream, if it'll help:
at the start of the dream, i was a ghost; i didn't know how i died, but i didn't seem to care. i was more upset by the fact that my friends couldn't see me, and they were all sad. a certain friend of mine posted somewhere online about being depressed that i was gone, and someone i've never seen in my waking life posting on the same site that i was the cause of his depression and that i had abused him. i remember wondering what the kid was talking about because, though i knew who he was, i'd only ever seen him at school or something of the sort.

I think the reason you see youself as a ghost is because you may be feeling left out or even ignored by your friends and/or family. Maybe no one is giving you the time of day. The flip side of the coin is that you may be ignoring your friends and in turn feel guilty about it.
You yourself may be going through a slight depression and feeling withdrawn.

The first thing that comes to mind is this old Gordon Lightfoot song...
(As recorded by Gordon Lightfoot)
GORDON LIGHTFOOT
If you could read my mind, love
What a tale your thoughts could tell
Just like an old time movie
'Bout a ghost from a wishing well
In a castle dark, or a fortress strong
With chains upon my feet
You know that ghost is me
And I will never be set free
As long as I'm a ghost that you can't see.
Is it possible you aren't communicating well with your friends, or detached from them lately? Maybe paying too much attention to other things, or maybe they are paying too much attention to other things, and you feel they aren't paying enough attention to you?

You may be feeling depressed, and because of this you are feeling disconnected from others.
The unknown young man may be a part of yourself that you are abusing in some way, making yourself feel bad. For example, putting yourself down or not believing in yourself.
