I'm excited about being the grams with tattoos and stories behind them. I can't wait to tell my grand kids about getting my frst one with one of my best friends, both our first tattoos. It was an amazing experience and for this one my best friend of 10+ years is going with me, her idea too! We'll all be the cool grandparents that have more than scars to talk about. Besides, at that age who really cares if tattoos are saggy and wrinkled. The memories are still there and health is usually a more important issue! I said this in an answer one time and it was picked as best answer because she hadn't thought about having colorful wrinkles not just ugly wrinkles. It's part of life, why not go out with some pretty rockin' art work too?

There's so many of us with tattoos that I doubt that there will be anyone in the nursing home that DOESN'T have a tattoo. I think the ladies with a tramp stamp are going to be hilarious when they get old- ink peeking out the top of their stretch pants and Depends- hilarious. And the guys with pierced nipples- the rings hanging down to their belly buttons- what a hoot!

I can't wait to be old and inked. Seriously...I will be able to tell my kids and my grandkids about what I was doing when I got it. I can say...Oh..Grams got this one in her friend Mike's kitchen while we were all drinking and smoking! haha. Not the smartest idea...but still.
I just think it is funny. My mom said to me when I got my first one (the traditional TRAMP STAMP) What are they going to say when you are 80 and bend over and the see a giant black splotch on your back? You know what I said. Well, first...I will tell them that it was a tattoo cause I was awesome in my young years and second..my butt is going to jump for joy since I can bend that far at 80! hahahaha. Then she said the same thing when I got my pink flowers under my breast. What are they going to think when you are 80 and people see that? Well...If I am 80 and someone sees it either a)I am getting a spongebath or at the doctor. of b)Im gettin lucky! lol =)

You know, people get old & saggy rather later in life nowadays. Doing what makes you happy sometimes helps more than modern takes on health, medicine, fitness and so on.
I know people in their 50s, 60s and 70s who are tattooed. They're incredibly active & happy people, even if they will be the first to admit they hardly look like youths (but then, they don't look like what people think "old" should look like either). I tend to think refusing to grow old, at least mentally - and this includes tattoos plus many other things - has kept them going.
I also know a few folks in rest homes, ready to die. They gave up on living a while ago.
Showing your ink will just be one sign of not letting time get you down, and we'll outlast those old farts telling us to "act our age" - even if we're decades older than them.

Here's what I always say. Sure, there might be some kid wiping my old, wrinkled hiney while I'm drooling and don't know what's going on anymore. But you know what? They can look at me and say "This woman lived, and she did it the way she wanted to." Maybe it will give them a little inspiration to get going on living life.
Or maybe I look ridiculous.
I can go either way on it.

i agree.. when people say imagine what that will look like when y our 80....well hunny imagine what i will look like when im 80! i highly doubt when im 80 my biggest concern will be a blob of wrinkled ink on the back of my neck or wherever. Plus how cool will it be to tell my grandkids about all of them. i love hearing about old sailors tattoos and such,

Exactly! And when you are that age... I think there will be other things on your mind than what you done x amount of years ago to your skin.
Plus, its not like your going to be wearing skimpy clothes and showing them off thinking they look as good as they did when they first got them.
I think they are just jealous because at least our skin will look more interesting!
