In Ohio, the prisoner has to put you on his visitation list, then mail you an application. After you return the completed application, the prison notifies you if you're eligible for an interview with them. At that interview, they determine whether you can visit the inmate or not. They also send you their dress codes and other information that you have to follow. Visiting hours and days vary from prison to prison. State with your state's website for the Dept. of Rehabilitation and Corrections and see what you can find. Or call the prison and ask for the information.

Okay well they don't check your body cavities. You should call and double check at least a week in advance. Most prisons require you to be on the prisoner's visitation list. And speaking from experience, please don't take a child with you. Prison is something a child should never be exposed to even it is a loved one incarcerated.

It depends on each prison and what the inmate is there for. I would suggest you call them and ask, or you could check on line!
