It's called "hot bunking". That's where two or more guys share the same bunk, but not at the same time. The bunks are shared in shifts, like workstations.

I don't know what navy you're talking about but the answer is no for the most part. Some Submarines might have Hot-Bunking where you share a rock with a ship mate but it's not like you're sleeping with him, you work different shifts. And the torpedo plunge? I've never heard of it but if they do something involving plunging to you I would say get the Master at Arms involved.

It's called hot bunking in the Sub service. AND no your not in bed with another guy. You do share the same bed space. On subs, space is at a premium. The racks are not much bigger than a coffin witha small space to lock up your personal stuff. Subs run 24hrs a day in shifts. So while you sleep, another is on duty. When he gets off, he gets the bed. Since you made it warm already, we call it a "hot bunk." Have no clue what the plunge is.....
Not a issue in the rest of the Navy, as they have more space for people.

Yes! They don't put that in the pamphlets do they? Also the Navy has name tags sewn into the back of their pants so they can know who they are doing! (any one in any other branch of the service will get that) Are you stupid? No you don't sleep in the same bunk, I am almost sure that is not a real question! I never heard of a thing called torpedo plunge either but play soggy cracker if you get a chance you will love that game and when you get to your unit make sure to find a PrickE8, and most important have your kem-light batteries so you can get a box of grid squares!

That is called "Hot racking" or "Hot Bunking", I've never seen that in the surface fleet. I have never been on a submarine.
"And that they have this thing they call a torpedo plunge that they do to you while youre asleep" If that is what you are looking for I know of an excellent bathhouse in Hillcrest, San Diego.

Wow. Okay as for the torpedo thing... uhh... Submariners are on their own program so I wouldn't know. The bunk thoug, you will share with up to two other people but it's called hot racking. You'll sleep for your 6-8 then someone comes and wakes you up and jumps in (after you're out.) The subs aren't very big and they conserve space where they can. It sounds disgusting to me but you gotta do what you gotta do. Good luck!

Only if you become a submariner. Other ships are large enough for a rack for each sailor.
As far as the "torpedo plunge", I've been in the Navy for 8 years, never heard of it.

Not usually. There were some subs, especially those testing, like the Albacor, who tested the first Nuke subs hulls shape. There is no room in them at all!
I don't know about any plunges though I have been in some of the Navy's berths and the person on top of you doesn't give you enough room to roll over! I don't know what they are like today!

You won't sleep with a ship mate in the same bed. What happens is the off duty crew sleeps while the duty crew is on watch. You will share a bed but not at the same time.
