I was just wondering who, honestly, has left or leaves their kids in the car when going into the shop to pay for their petrol. Not here to pass judgement, I'm just curious?

yes I leave my four year old in the car and I cut off the car and take the keys with me ,leave the windows half down and run into the store but I'm watching him out the window the whole time and he's in his car seat ..now if the line has more than two people in it I take him with me but it only takes me about 1min to pay for the gas..you can't steal a car with no keys..I see people do it all the time.

My kids have always been tagging along with me to pay for gas. It might be of inconvenience to some, but for me, it's okay. Knowing that it takes only seconds for someone to bust into a car and drive off with it, I am glad that at least my kids won't be in that car. As for not leaving keys in the car, well, yes, but even so, people can break in and actually take the child. It happens.

My son is 8, daughter is 5.

No I don't - ... I just don't feel comfortable with it. We have 4 kids, this is one BIG reason why we don't...
My kids school has it's own parking area and in February there was a massive storm and the teachers told the kids to leave the little kids in cars while collecting older kids - the hail was cutting through parents umbrellas and one Mom had lighting hit her umbrella - so we did - the carpark flooded quickly and the groundsmen had to rescue my 3 little ones from my car - the water was inside the car up to my baby's car capsule and over her legs!!! This is totally true (you can see it on Broughton Anglican College - School Flood Feb 2007 on the internet. It was so scary to nearly lose our children - our car was totally destroyed - there was mud, bugs, cow poo, you name it in the cars - about 30+ of them wrecked - but luckily, no one hurt.
Additionally to this - it can get hot very quickly in a car, AND, what if some loony stole the car while your babies were in it - that would be horrible.
So, that's my answer - no, they always, always, always are taken out.

Never. I find a station with the pay at the pump feature or I get him out and take him in. I've heard WAY too many news stories that started out with the mom or dad leaving the kids in the car.

I pay at the pump. I never leave my daughter in the car, even when I'm just running into the atm. I am absolutely paranoid that something's going to happen to her. I think you have to be that way these days, though. Just think about all the kids that were kidnapped when their parents or caretakers thought they were safe.

I have seen people do this and I really and truly think it's risky. Chances are that nothing bad will happen, but I do not advocate taking chances with the most important people on the face of the earth. Sometimes it is very inconvenient to bring kids with you when you go into a shop (perhaps just running in for milk), but it is worth the inconvience. In fact, I accept that my life will be inconvenienced for many years to come. This is because my job is to keep my kids as safe as possible in a fairly uncertain world. I would rather bring my kids with me every time than ever have to WISH that I had brought them with me, if you get my drift.

Yes but only because i pay at the pump LOL. The only other time i do, is if my 15 yr old ( almost 16) is with me....... then i might..... or just send him in....... He likes to pay anyways if the pay at the pump is broken.

If he or another adult is not with me... id lug my 6 yr old and newborn in to pay.... or just go to a different station that the pay at the pump was working...... We have stations every where in the city i live in.... ( id never leave the little ones in the car alone......) so dangerous

I never have, she's only 13 months old, besides if i went into the gas station and left her in the car, running or not, and a cop saw it, he'd take her out of my care and into the care of cps, not a chance I'm willing to take!

I only pay with a debit card so I am by the pump every second they are alone in the car. Nothing is safe anymore.

I do... she's about 2 feet away from me as I'm standing outside of the car. I pay at the pump always though, no exceptions.
