one night in early august, i took my friends out on my boat. as fate would have it, my camera got very wet and shorted out. one girl said "oooh damn! i want all those pictures from tonight!" and took my memory card, which still worked. weeks went by and i didn't see her much, but assumed she was keeping track of my $60 memory card. the other night i was like "oooh can i have my memory card back?" and she said "wow, i have no idea where that is". then i saw her later on again and she was like "i'm so sorrrryyy, it's around my house somewhere. it's not exactly easy to find". now what? i sorta need it back!

That's called being stuck between a rock and a hard place! There is not much you can do but you could certainly offer to stop by and help her clean her little pig sty and see if you can find it. It may or may not have been intentional that she lost your card and shorted your camera but now your memory card missing too...a bit much. Some people are careless no matter whose stuff it is. You may have to eat it and move on taking with you the lesson of trust, friendship & responsibility.
For you I would say the moral of the story is do to others as you would want them to do to you. This is a major life lesson!

Offer to help locate the card and insist that you really need it back.. In the future you can send the pictures to almost any drug/retail store via online and your "friend" can pick them up as his/her convience.. I do this at times with my parents who are out of state.. I send them picture's printed at a photolab by where they live... I keep the card and they get the pictures... If she still can't find the card.. Ask her to buy you a new one and if she downloaded the photos to her computer have her put them on CD for you....

Keep insisting and slowly start to have a more serious tone. Always add a little uneasy laugh as not to make your friend feel to pressured and in turn try to avoid you rather than search for it. You can even tell her one day you'll go by her house and look for it together.

If she lost it, then the pictures are gone with it. She should buy you a new memory card. Did she download the pics? If so, you can recover your pictures.

Keep asking her for it. She sounds like one of those self-interested people and even friends aren't on the top of her list. Just keep asking and if she fails to give it back, you know what kind of friend you've got (making her an ex-friend).

Good Luck with that...Use this as a learning curve experience if you are wise...and don't allow items of value out of your sight without some accountability.

Tell her that you either need your money back by a certain time period or she's going to have to pay for it. It cost $60.00!
