Honestly, you can make a good smoothie with just about anything...and it is fun to experiment.

Here are some tips-
-frozen fruits work well (the consistancy tends to be a little better)
-blueberries are great
-make sure you add something to sweeten it (it doesn't have to be sugar, can be a little sweetened juice, my fave is cranberry, but also honey can be used, frozen or regular yogurt also provide a little extra sweetness to balance the tartness of fruit)
-a banana is always a good addition (the nutritional benefits of bananas is phenomenal, plus they are quite filling)
-if you use raspberries, caution there will be little annoying seeds....I would advise against it, blueberries also have seeds, but not as many
-strawberries are great, but make sure to make them small enough so you don't have a huge chunk o' strawberry (make all fruits small enough, so you don't have huge chunks or wear out your blender)
-use skim milk rather than ice cream or frozen yogurt to cut calories, if you like the thicker consistancy, cover it and put it in the freezer for a bit, or add ice
-don't add too many flavor combos, but don't be afraid to experiment...if something doesn't taste right, just add something else....it's kinda like magic
-limeade or Orange Pineapple are my other favorite juices to mix with
-use a straw :)

Good Luck!

i don't know a specific recipe, but I can give you some tips!

DON'T USE BANANA! If you must, use it sparingly. A little banana goes a LONG way. If you use too much, thats all you can taste and it makes your smoothie really dull.

I love a little kick in my smoothie, so I love adding lemon/ lime juice or zest. Also, strawberries work well with lemons!

If you use ice, be very careful on how much. Too much ice and it'll taste like a nasty snow-cone. to little, and its almost yogurt.

I always refrain from using anything thick such as yogurt. to me, I like it when a smoothie has a kick to it, and is more of a thicker drink.

Enjoy making your smoothies!
Google "lemon-strawberry smoothie" and see what you can find! This kind is my favorite!

I'll talk to ya latah, and I hope I've helped!

Hey, there is nothing you cannot put into a smoothie..... I think using a max. of 3 fruits will give you a great flavour and still allow you to taste them individually as well as enjoying the fusion.....

Bananas can overwhelm most mixes so you may need to add more of the other fruit....

Tinned fruit is ok but try for stuff that is not in syrup, rather natural juices....

I find fruit, ice and fruit juice just fine..... never got into adding milk and find most yoghurts too rich in a smoothie....but you could add soy or rice milk, fresh milk, ice cream or yoghurt.....

Some examples of combinations are:

* banana, pineapple, paw paw (with orange juice - just a little to begin wtih, you can always add more) and ice
* strawberries, mixed berries (blueberries tend to 'set' the drink so avoid them, unless you dont mind a jelled drink)
* tropical fruits like mango, pineapple and passion fruit (added at the end)....

Play around, its the best way to work out what you like!

Enjoy!

My brother likes to make a strawberry and banana smoothie. It's really good. just add some sugar and ice.
And if you don't get any good ideas about smoothies, then try root beer floats. They're good too!

"Acapulco Gold"

3 oz pineapple juice
1 oz coconut cream
1 oz whipping cream
1/2 oz grapefruit juice

Shake and strain into a highball glass with cracked ice.

(Okay, so not exactly the healthiest drink but it tastes wonderful.)

"Blue Strawberry Smoothie"

1 cup hulled strawberries
1/3 cup frozen blueberries
2 peeled, chunked bananas
1/2 cup orange juice
1 1/2 cups plain yogurt
1 tbsp soymilk powder

Combine ingredients in a blender, and serve in tall glasses.

"California Smoothie"

7 large strawberries
8 oz lemon yogurt
1/3 cup orange juice

1. Place strawberries in a plastic container and freeze for about an hour.

2. In a blender, combine frozen strawberries, yogurt and orange juice. Blend until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and serve.

"Cherry Almond Smoothie"

8 oz cherry yogurt
11 oz mandarin oranges
1/2 peeled banana sliced
1/4 cup half-and-half cream
1 tsp almond extract

In a blender, mix yogurt, oranges, banana, half-and-half and almond extract. Blend until smooth.

"Cranberry Orange Smoothie"

1 cup cranberry juice
1 large banana
1 medium orange peeled and segmented
1/2 cup hulled strawberries
1/4 cup raspberry sherbet
1 cup cubed ice
1/4 cup whey protein

Place cranberry juice, banana, orange, strawberries, sherbet, ice, and protein powder in the bowl of a blender. Blend on high speed until smooth, about one minute. Adjust the consistency by adding more sherbet if it's too thin, or more cranberry juice if it's too thick. Pour into two glasses and use a straw!

"Kiwi Banana Smoothie"

3 peeled kiwi chopped
2 frozen banana peeled and chopped
1 cup blueberries
1 cup plain yogurt
1 1/2 cups crushed ice
3 tbsp honey
1/4 tsp almond extract

In a blender, combine the kiwis, frozen bananas, blueberries, yogurt, crushed ice, honey and almond extract. Blend until smooth.

"Mango Lime Slushy"

3 peeled mango pitted and chunked
2 tbsp fresh lime juice
2 tbsp confectioner's sugar
1 tray of ice cubes

Place the mangoes, lime juice, confectioners' sugar, and ice cubes in a blender. Blend until slushy.

I use what's fresh and in season. Right now I'm putting one mango, a cup of diced papaya, a banana and a big chunk of watermelon in a blender till well mixed. I'll add a little passionfruit juice to thin it and have it for breakfast.

For the morning (for 2 people) I use about 1 cup frozen berries, one banana, 3 cups fresh orange juice, one small container of yogurt, a 1/2 a can of coconut milk, a table spoon of flax seeds and one table spoon of psyllium husks. (tastes really good and gets you going for the whole morning)

Strawberry and Banana Smoothie

Frozen bananas
Frozen strawberries
Liquid vanilla
Milk
A little bit of sugar
Vanilla ice cream if desired

Blend together and taste test to see how thick you like it, or if more bananas or strawberries should be added. It is delicious!
