I think that some churches don't even recognize them as being true marriages cause they aren't in a church. So why shouldn't homosexuals be allowed to have those? Or does that show that it's really about money...?

please no spouting stuff about how God says that homosexuals are abominations and stuff like that. It's old. It's tired. How about actually answering the question. Why shouldn't they be allowed to have civil unions?

Bobby Jim, you sign the same kind of marriage license in the court house as you do in the church.

HUNNY I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE ON HERE. We make an odd couple but we'll deal with that later. I have been saying the same thing for a while. Civil Unions shouldn't offend any breeders. I think that they should be able to have their word if we can have ours.

Two basic facts of life
1)It is the State that grants marriage licenses not the Church . If a couple gets married in a church and they don't posses a State issued marriage license then they are not legally married.
2)God doesn't care about homosexuality that is practiced by non-believers .He only cares about homosexuality that is practiced by believers -his chosen people as it were.
The above statement is really easy to prove. About 800 miles from Israel is Greece , if God was actually concerned about homosexuality as practiced by non -believers he could have easily aimed the God version of a photon torpedo at Athens and wiped the openly homosexual Classic Greek civilization from the face of the Earth.
He didn't do that. Not only did he let the Greeks be, butt he let them flourish -much to the benefit of us all.
Apparently God took the attitude of since they're not my people then they're not my problem.

I wish I could answer your question without bringing God into it but it is IMPOSSIBLE. The reason they didn't start recognizing them till recently in few churches is because the churches are suppose to stand with the Laws of God. And teach the Gospel. Not become so politically correct. They have the right to deny that it is a real marriage because it is not God's will. Why would a homosexual want to have a church wedding if they aren't abiding by God's commands anyway. Homosexuality is a rebellion against God's plan, and therefore doesn't belong in the church and it's not like God is going to give any of them blessings for rebelling and turning His idea of a marriage into a perverted mess. So why would they care where they have a union ceremony? A nice ceremony in the park, or in a dinner hall or backyard would be fine wouldn't it?

So, what is Gay, anyway? Male and female are obvious roles in society, even though everyone has their unique personality. But what is Gay, in terms of Marriage? How many different types of 'Gay Unions' are you talking about? I doubt if the many different Gay people I've met, would aggree on much of anything, except discrimination. Marriage is not only about who you are, but also about how you are complimented with. We need one, clear cut standard, for one, clear cut relationship. Not a fractured, disfunctional system, on top of the chaos that society shoves on a simple relationship....

i believe this is a government issue...not a religion issue (separate church from state). if people vote on gay marriages it's because that's what the people (govt) wanted. i honestly don't think it was just the christian community who voted against same sex marriage. i know of a lot of people who are non-believers who also voted against same sex marriage. the govt. doesn't see it as a legal marriage because that is what the PEOPLE voted on. not just Christians.

They are in proper countries.

In the U.S. interracial marriage only became legal in all 50 states less than seven years ago - so don't expect gay marriage any time soon.

Because some Christians think it's their business-- and it's not. If it's not hurting anyone, why do they think they have any right to stop a gay couple from marrying? They don't...it's just another way for them to control us with religion.

The bible thumpers are running the country and the politicians are afraid of them after Bush's last victory. They got him in and now we are all stuck with him. I think we should be allowed to marry whoever we want.

They say there is a separation between church & state with our government but ask any conservative person this & they'll just double talk their way out of it. The fact of the matter is the "seperation between church & state" is a lie.

See, I pissed off some conservatives & they gave me thumbs down!
