A person does not partake in any jump training during Basic Training, thus the word "basic." Jump training is specialized training and is normally given to those that need it for their military job. But now their are people that get jump training even though they don't need it for their jobs. Lots of ROTC and Academy Grads get to take military jump training during their military college training and are allowed to wear the badge when the receive their commission, but enlisted do not get this luxury during basic.
I had an Lt with jump wings and he received them during his ROTC time.

No, it is an option later, but not in Basic.
As far as the comment about the Navy having only enough to count on one hand, you are forgetting about the Seals. Every single Seal has to go through Airborne training, it is a prerequisite for any SOCOM type of job.
I did Airborne school right after basic. I was still on Fort Benning and fresh from my 8 weeks of Basic and 5 weeks of AIT. It wasnt difficult, but it was tiresome.

No you sure don't, barely shoot a gun, in order to earn that badge you have to have an AFSC(job) that would include jumping out of planes. Some examples Combat Controller, TAC-P, Paratrooper, basically something to do with Special Forces.

Only if you are a Pararescueman or a crew member of an aircraft that is falling apart around you. If you want to jump out of airplanes, then join the Army and go Airborne. (Or the Marines and go Recon.)

No, very few AF personnel ever get the option to go to Airborne school (run by the US Army). The Army has the largest percentage of Airborne qualified personnel at nearly 1/4 while the USMC is about 1/100 and the AF at about 1/10,000. The Navy, well you could probably count theirs on one hand.

No, you don't jump from planes
To earn that, you have to be in a career field that rquires it, think about it, if you automatically got it in basic, everyone in the Air Force would have one.

Why would you want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane?
