My fiance and I will be having an outdoor, lunchtime wedding, on the less formal side. We're not very formal type people and we're always joking around.
Rather than your typical wedding invitation, we think it would be funny to have an invitation with a characature of the bride and groom, with me holding a bouquet of carrots instead of flowers. (I'm vegan.) The groom, who is of Jewish and Viking ancestry would be portrayed wearing a Viking helmet with a star of David on it. My fiance and I think this is a good and outrageously funny idea. But perhaps some may find it tacky.
What is your honest opinion of our invitation idea?

honestly..if its you and you both want this...its your day and who cares who finds it tacky...at least they will talk about the both of you..or you could set an example and your friends and family may follow you and be true to themselves..which on this day is most important

I love your idea of wanting something different and creative. Although, after looking at those particular invitations, they seem a little tacky for being silly. Basically I like the premise, but not what that company has to offer. Have you shopped around before deciding on this company?
Your invitation, whether others think it is tacky or not, comes down to what you want. Honestly, would you put this much concern over what others think about a birthday party invitation? That is the way I think of it. Good luck and congratulations! :)

Those invites are too funny! If you were having a formal affair, they probably wouldn't be appropriate. But, since its a more casual daytime event, I think it can work. And the carrot bouquet and Viking helmet with Star are a riot! I don't know you, but I like your sense of humor! Good luck with your planning, and congratulations!

Hi. Like all the others have said....it's YOUR wedding....YOU choose! I do like the idea that you are going outside "the box" and it fits with your likes (vegan) and your fiance's ancestry. I also LOVE the idea of a lunchtime wedding ~ very fun! I say go for it, and if your friends and family really know you they will think it's funny too! I hope you have a beautiful wedding!

It shows your personality. Your wedding isn't formal. If you both like it, who CARES what anyone else thinks. If you are always joking around, people may even EXPECT something like this. It would be really cute if you had a center piece with the same elements for the reception.
People might even be relieved you haven't turned into a "Bridezilla" they way some women do, taking everything too seriously.

Those invites you linked to look great and if the both of you are happy with it then all the more power to you. Your wedding is about you two and your personalities. The people you invite should know that and not find it tacky at all.

I think that is a great idea!! Traditional wedding invites can be so boring and they all say the same thing. I would keep the invite since it was so funny. My finacee and i plan to do something similar with our cake topper. Good luck and congrats!

I LOVE IT! I think it is a great idea!
When I got married, I printed my invitations and had a funny
response card and my husband wasn't too sure about it because he said that people might think it is weird but I thought that if they did think it was weird, then didn't really know us and probably shouldn't be invited anyway.
Besides, a funny invitation is really much better than an ugly one!

your family and friends know you well and i am sure they will find it as amusing as you do. and who cares if someone here thinks its tacky! you'll always find some bridezilla who will try and stomp on your idea!
personally i find it refreshing that someone isn't being all stuffy and freaked out and wasting a year's income on a wedding. a lunchtime wedding sounds like fun!
our friends just had their wedding in the park, in blue jeans and denim dress, with a big bbq following! it was totally awesome and everyone was so happy with the relaxed atmosphere, yours sounds just as great!

If your friends and family know that you are a wacky couple then they will find it cute. I think it would be great if that is your personality why not go with it. It is your wedding and just put what kind of attire your guests should wear.
