First thing I usually do is go through the codes.
6-Fold Goal
9 Noble Virtues (even if those two were set up by an outsider... they're still decent)
And I finish with the Aesirian Code of Nine.
Then I hit the Havamal.
Once I'm pretty focused on that sort of thing, I'll either cast runes, draw out the rune cards, or just sit quietly and ponder.
Before I had kids, I'd go off in the woods and sit for a few hours in a tree and ponder.

Well, I'm *really* sound oriented so I listen to something that has bass and a good beat. It clears my head and I can close my eyes and converse with whomever I need. Also, it keeps all but the beat out of my ears, so I can concentrate. But I'm sure I'm the only person who uses sound :) I'm a very strange Pagan.
Depends on who you're dealing with, also. Some like to find you in a quiet, dark room, and others like bright outdoors, peaceful all. Most want silence and just you to be there-- so if you have a nice wooded area that might help. So quiet, peaceful, maybe burn incense or light a candle.

First thing is that I have to do something really physical to release as much nervous energy as I can otherwise it's too hard to focus. Go running or something to expend as much energy as you're able to. Then take a shower to de-sweat. After the shower, soak in a long warm bath with a sachet of your favorite herbs or some oils. Don't think, just relax. Do some cleansing visualizations to release any extra energy. After I do that, I'll light some candles on my altar (which is right by my bed), climb into bed, wrap snuggly warm under my blankies, stare into the candle flames and meditate. As I'm meditating if there is a thought that pops into my head I speak it out loud - release it to the Goddess. I just keep meditating and speaking any popup thoughts until I get to the point where I come to a solution or I tire myself out. I do it every day until I am able to sort things out.
Best of luck )O(

Think it through. Be completely honest with yourself and about how you want the issue resolved.
Relax. Come up with a possible way to respond to what is bothering you but don't act on it for 24 hours. The next day when you look at your proposed solution you will be able to tell if it makes sense or not.

I write. I sit down with a journal and a good heavy pen that feels nice in my hand, and I write down whatever comes into my head, until my head feels clearer. Sometimes this takes a couple of sessions over a couple of days.
When I'm done, and I can look at what I wrote with a more objective eye, then I usually see the answer right in front of me, in my own words.

I thought of Tarot cards too, though I don't use them that often. I have quiet places I go to release myself. If I can't get to one of them literally, I try to project myself there to focus and cleanse away the junk. Focus first on being in that safe and calming place. Don't focus on the problems. Make yourself safe first. Then you can talk through the problems one at a time. Don't lose track of the earth under your feet and the air moving around you. Breathe.

A simple form of meditation works for me. It's more like just sitting quietly outside on the porch swing. I burn incense, play quiet music, and light one white candle.

For me I just go somewhere quiet and let those thoughts run through my mind. Some times I need to write down a list. Heck some times I just talk it out. Yes to myself.

A hot bath and soft music help relax me.... Although sometimes just having a good *****-fest at the Gods helps too..... I think the Greek Gods like worshippers who sometimes yell at them... The Greeks were never known for *ahem* even tempers....
