I received the SNCF ticket (Class 2) which I bought online at raileurope.com. However, on my one-way ticket for Caen->Pontorson, there's no boarding time, arrival time & seat # printed out. All it says on the ticket is "VALID FROM DD/MM TO DD/MM/YYYY" (for 2 months)... I'm very confused now as I picked the times when I purchased the ticket online. I wonder if in this case I can take the train at anytime within this period and pick any seat I want.

If you have experience with SNCF, your answer will be extremely appreciated! Thanks.

In France they have 2 different ticket systems, one kind can only be used for one train, (when you miss the train you can exchange it for a later train.)
The other kind can be used on any train within a given time period, mostly 2 months.

Yours can be used all the time.
You have to validate it when you get to the station, there are machines to feed it into, and all people at the station will be helpful.

I entered the towns into the French train travel planner and got only ter trains, these are local trains and do not have reserved seats.
