to rephrase it for Christians:
To set aside the Fact that Jesus is the Son of God, if he was just a mere human being... what made him so special and different from us all?

That he loved all so completely, warts & all. In many ways he showed us what we are capable of, both in our finest moments & our most bitter. The ultimate transended man he even stated that he came to show the possibilities of man.In a time of harsh rules & even harsher punishments for breaking those rules he said there was another way & that way was Love. His message was powerful enough to span more than 2000 years, even if it may have been twisted somewhat along the way. He left for us a legacy, a new way of being to strive for. He was way ahead of his time with his message, as was Buddha, Ghandi, & so many others. He was our older brother showing us the way out of the dark fearful forest.

Thomas Jefferson attempted to answer this by excising all miracles and supernatural phenomena from his version of the bible. Ignorant people say he simply never existed, despite more than ample proof in texts other than Christian writings that he did. The Qu'ran states Jesus' virgin birth as a fact, and holds that he was both teacher and prophet although denying he is Son of God. What makes Jesus special is that almost no one is indifferent, Jesus must be confronted in some manner or other. This confrontation brings the question of faith to the forefront. Clearly he threatened both Rome and the religious establishment in Jerusalem, which led to his crucifixion. His teaching did not centre in miracles, he said only a faithless generation would demand such. He did not teach people how to become rich and powerful, but more than implied such things were only fit for burning, a pile of manure. He ate and drank with publicans, Pharisees, prostitutes, tax-gatherers, Samaritans, lepers, and went out among the tombs with demoniacs. He taught people on the hillsides and beside the sea. He blessed children making them the model of the kingdom of God. He said that men had to be born again. He talked about healing as the forgiveness of sins, and commissioned his disciples to this ministry, so proclaiming the immanence of the kingdom of God. He taught that God required mercy, not sacrifice, that God should be worshiped in Spirit and Truth. He gave his life for the world. And He goes on living.

lets set aside the 'fact' that he is son of god.

why is he special ? do note that there are many mystical being way before Jesus was born , that were also known as son of god to their people , and that born from virgin birth , and also dead for 3 days and then resurrected.

i am not lying , or bs , it is true . horus is just one of the many character , it is used more because he has the most resemblence with jesus.

in the past , people use astrology alot , yep i know my english sucks , but people regard sun as god in many cultures and countries because if there's no sun , there would be a lot of death .

the 3 kings are actually stars and the virgin mary is actually another star , and so is the 'son of god' . the sun was buried visually for 3 days before rising in the direction of north. note i said visually and not literally.

this give people the impression it was buried and ressurected. i know many will say i am bullsh!ting now. but hey thats what some answer the questions why so many mystical character share the same traits.

if someone do really exist , like alexander the great and so on , there will be overwhelming evidence , in form of coins with their face imprinted on it and so on.

thats why many doesnt believe .

yeah and also i know this may sound science fiction , he could just be an alien and you wouldnt know/.

Hi and good morning Enki....I would probably have to say that if Jesus wasn't the son of God and what made him 'special' or 'different' from others was due to His perspective on Life itself and the concept that man should love one another instead of hate and to avoid sin at all costs. Jesus was a peaceful individual that wanted to teach the good morals and ethics to His followers and His beliefs as a Christian. I imagine He was a family man even though some Christians don't believe in that aspect but I think realistically due to Jesus heritage and whom He was, so I imagine He had children and possibly married to Mary Magdalene. He was a teacher and prophet so with this in mind, this would have been why He was so special or different in the eye's of others. Have a blessed day!

He was a human that proved blatantly that death has no hold on the human Life
That made him special because it was a major accomplishment to prove that the body is not the person

We are all sons and daughters of God
You and I have the same human DNA the Master known as Jesus had
We have the same Father/Mother/Source life flowing in our blood and breathing through our mouth
The Father is "Our" Father - all of ours
The Master known as Jesus I am sure thinks you are just as special as he is.
You should think that too
in my opinion

The unparalleled authority with which He spoke, and taught, even at the age of 12 when He just kind of barged up to the scrolls in the temple people couldn't help but stop to listen!
The fact that He was far ahead of His times, very controversial. He spoke of things, ideas and humanity that was just unheard of to his peers or the religious leaders at that time. The group was Pharisees and Saducees. I don't know what the exact equivalent to that would be now days but my guess is the Catholic church hierarchy, like the pope, bishops, etc.
Jesus basically mocked everything about them, making Him very controversial. But He did it in such a way that was undeniable and authoritative.
He ate and spent time with sinners. With the people that at that time were outcasts in society such as prostitutes, tax collectors (these people were Jews collecting tax for Rome so they were thought of as traitors), diseased, etc.
Nowadays the equivalent might be homosexuals, teen mothers, goths, AIDS sufferers, runaways, cast-outs.
Anybody the church big-wigs have judged unsavable Jesus embraced and sat with. He loved on them and they were honored! He brought out their individuality, He hit on emotions and asked just the right questions to get them to open up and made them feel safe and wanted and loved!
Jesus called it as He saw it, and did so with authority and love, this is what set Him apart!

Jesus was not accepted, declared, called, suddenly, overnight a Son of God , All Over The World.

Jesus crucified at the age of 33 years, had become eye sore for many established and vested interests.

Higher souls too are embodied and descend on the earth to convey the message of the God, and that is why they are called the Messengers too,

Soon after the birth,Jesus had been showing signs of child which is not a normal one but super normal.

at the young age he had demonstrated, not out of his efforts or ego, Grace. by his talks, by his gestures, by his actions.

Jesus ,as Jews even have noted that Jesus had super power not that of magicians but of Soul which put him above others.

Jesus talks have been guiding force even in modern age to those depressed and sick soul. Jesus talks kindles the light in the dark corners of Evey heart.

Jesus has been source of Love.

The special thing about Jesus has remained one that he resisted Not the Evil.

Even to those who were killing Him, He prayed to God. Forgive them ,they know not what they are doing.

This is the compassion and Love .. not ordinary humans like me and others have so far demonstrated.

I understand what you are try to say but you cant take away what He is and understand why he was perfect. Remember he was fully God and fully man all at the same time. He came and lived a sinless life and died to redeem us. I do get what ou are saying though. On the earthly end of it He was special because He did live a sinless life. He fulfilled the Old Testament Law. But you really cant seperate the man and the God. He could not have redeemed us otherwise.

Jesus was sent to Earth, by God to pay for the sins of Men, meaning all People, so anyone who don't believe it to be true can form their own opinions, and think what they want to think. Jesus was conceived through the Holy Spirit,by God's command.

I think that if he wasn't the son of God that makes him all the more special. He was some one who taught peace and love and truly lived what he believed. Other people who have done this in history were Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr. both of whom used Jesus' teachings for guidlines in their life.
