That is a question I have been struggling with for quite some time now,Lindsey. I find it hard to believe that God would send a Christian,or any believer in God who has accepted Christ as their Savior, to hell for a minor infraction, the same hell an unrepentent murderer, rapist, pedophile, etc. would inhabit. Only God can judge. I believe no sin, great or small, can enter into Heaven,as Heaven is a place of perfection. But I also believe that there will one day be a New Heaven and Earth, the New Earth being the New Jerusalem where faithful believers will abide. It's only my own humble opinion, and not backed up by scripture or anything, but I feel that it may be possible for those Christians who could not enter Heaven for such a sin as you've described to be allowed entrance into the New Jerusalem. I believe this only because I can't conceive of the loving God I know to be a God who would condemn anyone who has been faithful to Him to hell for something so(in the human mind) minor as a lie.
I will probably get some flack by some here for saying what I have, and I once again want to reiterate that what I have written is my own personal thought on this issue. There is much we don't know, because not everything has been specified on certain issues.

Well i'm not Christian but the whole concept of hell and and eternal suffering seems quite...cruel and unfair. I meanyou live on average 89-90 years on this earth and in that time maybe you've committed acts agains the natural order for (worst case scenario) 70-80 years of that time without repenting b4 passing away. God then "punishes you" according to Christianity by sealing your fate to hell for ETERNAL SUFFERING. How does 80, 90 even a hundred years of sin account for and eternity of pain....that's like punishing a child for the rest of it's life for being rude and violent for a year of it's life.

If the sin they committed was a serious sin, what John calls a "sin unto death", what God's Church calls a "mortal sin", then yes, such a person is lost. The example you used, lying to skip work, is most likely not a sin unto death. However, if a person died while in the act of committing adultery, then yes, he/she would forfeit salvation. That's why the Bible calls such sins "sins unto death".

Many believe that unconfessed sin will be taken from their reward in heaven. It says a Christians works will be judged if the works were for selfish reasons and not for the glory of God they will be burned up and any works that survive the test will be treasure in heaven.

Yes a Christian will still go to Heaven even with unconfessed sin. Upon receiving Christ as your personal Savior, all past, present and future sins are forgiven. The reason we confess our sins to God is to stay in fellowship with him.
You could compare it to a marriage. When you have wronged your spouse, you should admit what you have done to keep the relationship in good standing.

So says St Joan of Arc, who would walk through the battlefield in the aftermath and weep for unshriven souls.
Perfectly honest, though, there is a moment, they say, when time slows down as you are about to die, and therein, so they say, is the time to regret.

No. Once you have asked Jesus to save you and you are "Born again" you can not go to Hell. Can a person ever be unborn??? You can make Jesus sad when you sin, but Jesus says that once you are saved "No man can pluck you out of my hand" including yourself through sinning.
