I would like to add to the answers that you have received so far and hasten to tell you that Witchcraft and Wicca are NOT the same thing. Wicca is a religion, Witchcraft is a craft which is sometimes also practiced by Wiccans, bu t not all Witches are Wiccans. I am a Witch but not a Wiccan. If you a interested in Witchcraft but not in Wicca, then steer clear of Scott Cunningham's publications. I suggest that you read "Witchcraft: A Beginner's Guide" by Teresa Moorey. It gives a lot of information in a small book, and answers FAQs very well. It is available online.

Are you wanting to learn Wicca or Witch Craft {like on TV and the movies} ? Magik is not a game or a way to get back at people for bad things they have done to you! Any spell that is cast has to be thought out! If ANYTHING bad happens because of a spell it will come back on the spell caster X3.
If it is Wicca a good book to start with is:
Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner (Paperback)
by Scott Cunningham

Here is just one of the many Good web sites:

Good luck and Blessings child!

Please ignore those little fear mongers who say it's about satan. That is one of their beliefs. They like to think that means everyone believes the same as them.
Anyway, Witchvox.com. Any book by Scott Cunningham, Rae Beth, Ronald Hutton, Marion Green, Sheesh there are a lot of good ones. Look into the history if you want to know more. that's where people like Ronald Hutton come in.
Also remember that Wicca and Witchcraft are NOT the same thing.

Well, I've been Wiccan all my life (I'm 16) and what helped me most was to go to Barnes&Noble bookstore, or the local library. They (bookstore) has a large and great selection of witchcraft books, and the books are of a high quality. You should probably start with a title like, "The beginner's Guide to Witchcraft" or something like that, because it is very good for just starting out. And I'm sorry about all the rude comments from the jackasses and degenerates that don't understand. I hope this helped. Good luck! = )

Scott Cunningham is a great author, but his books can be a bit dry and long-winded IMHO. Try "Wicca and Witchcraft for Dummies" or "An Idiot's Guide to Wicca..." These books read much quicker and lighter than many other Pagan books.
Websites? www.mysticwicks.com
www.witchvox.com
Happy Searching :+)

The best source of information on groups or teachers in your area can be found at The Witch's Voice. This is a great site for local Pagan and others to learn of each other. Just go to their site and look in your area under groups or teachers.
You can also contact me through my website and I will answer any questions you have.

witchvox.com - social networking & you can do local searches for fellow wiccans, shops, etc. your local witchy-shop owner is going to be a great resource for you and will be able to point you in the right direction
covenspace.com - like myspace but for pagans (mine is jennyg so look me up)
religioustolerance.org
meetup.com - lots of pagan meetup groups
witchschool.com is really great. they have alot of "classes" that are basic tutorials.
for books start with "Simple Wicca" - it's a small, pink, non-threatening place to begin (that's what I needed, but it may not suit you).
check out the new age section at your local Barnes and Nobel or Borders. they have tons of books. anything by Cunningham is good. but the best thing to do when you're looking for a book is to let the right one draw you to it. You'll know when you find the one you're looking for because it will feel right.
brightest blessings on your new path )O(

If you want to learn about it, I suggest not only reading and studying it, but also talking to some actual Wiccans.
This girl... who used to be here a lot, actually... has done some very thorough work explaining Wiccan beliefs and practices. You might find some good info by watching her videos on the subject.

Go to a few/Pagan wiccan sites about witchcraft.
www.witchvox.com helps the must. I practice witchcraft and since I'm a native Louisiana descended from Lousiana slaves voodoo runs in my blood. I practice that regularly to. Don't listen to the Christians. I'm a pagan and don't even believe in their Gods. We don't worship satan and magick isn't "dark".
