John Kerry, is that you? Not a smart statement, without our 'dumb' Army, you would be speaking Japanese, German or Arabic right now.

You can't stereotype everyone, but generally, I would say most people in the army are there for training in a career field and college money. I don't believe many joined with the explicit intention to fight a BS war in Iraq. I would say its more of an economic factor that drives people to join the military than how intelligent they are.

Either way, it sounds like people are getting smarter and not joining as much because new enlistments have been down since the Iraq war has been going on for so long and people realize that there is a fair chance at getting killed if you sign up these days.

no the army doesn't make you dumb, that's just a stupid idea. It's only a stereotype the soldiers are stupid but if you ever met one they are very smart and know what they are doing. If you want stupid people go talk to someone who works at burger king. frankly I find it insulting that you even would think that seeing as how most of my family is involved in the army. Think before you say things like that.

You're an idiot. Our military is much better educated than the general population. They don't just give you a gun and ship you off.

Had you read a book, you might have learned something. Were you born stupid, or did pot make you stupid? But you would have to be stupid to smoke pot anyway. A bit of a chicken and the egg situation but maybe there is a rehab facility for you. Or perhaps a library.

No, you're not dumb first, maybe a little suicidal to join right now!
The army wants everyone to think as a unit. Some might call this brainwashing but in a hostile situation the smart as--- who try something diverse may end up dead or cause another soldiers death.

Our troops are not dumb. They are people who have chosen to put their lives on the line to defend our freedom and our country. The fact hat their courage and patriotism has been abused by demagogues like Bush does not change that.

And--someone can oppose this war and still support the troops. But no one can sneer at or fail to support these brave men and women and still cal themselves a loyal American--or even a decent human being.

I resent the implication that everyone in the army is dumb, but I will go on to say that a lot of the soldiers that make up the army are poor, young, lower class kids without any kind of a decent education that see the army as the best way out of their bad situation. Army recruiters comb poor neighborhoods to find these kids! Are they being exploited? Is the army the best thing for them? Bless them in any case!

The military these days is very choosy. You have to be above average intelligence to even be considered. Then they train you in computers and electronics and all sorts of other fields, so you become even smarter.

Statistics show that most military are from middle class, not poor neighborhoods, so money's not an issue either.

So the answer is neither.

Neither. Our our military is the best for a reason. Until you've been in the Army, or any other branch, you have no reasons to go on.
