You really need professional help now, your doctor needs to refer you for psychiatrist help. If you have bipolar usually this is because some other underling condition has not been dealt with.
My mum was just like you describe and only just found out after she died, she had aspergers. Know one understood her, so how could she understand anyone else or herself. I have just been diagnosed with this and its turned my life around, to know is to be free. Aspergers is just a different way of seeing and thinking. But you could have anything, and really by being diagnosed will make such a difference, do not think about it do it.

You do have the right to ask for a second opinion. Are you seeing an MD or a psychiatrist. Because Psychiatrists have specific criteria that they look for, and if you do not meet that criteria you are not Bipolar. I have seen some way out diagnosis from MD's who just are doing the best they can but they are not psych doctors and do not have the training.
I am in school to become a counselor and because Of a good friend of mine who has Bipolar I have studied it more than any other disorder. i have studied a lot of research on the subject and studied the criteria extensively, but without clinical experience I am not sure which type of Bipolar my friend has, even though i have been tracking his moods for almost a year now.
Just becuase it takes clinical experience to diagnose these things.

Go to your doc appt and just be honest. S/he's going to ask some questions, maybe have you take a simple test. That's probably about it. Most likely, you'll be given medication if you haven't already been given some. There's a good chance it will make you drowsy for a few weeks. That usually wears off. If the med makes you a little sick, give it a couple weeks 'cause that too often wears off. If it makes you really ill, call immediately and get her/him to prescribe something else. There are quite a few meds, and when you find the right ones, life really improves.

What I would like to know is how the fact that you think about killing your Mom has anything to do w/ being bipolar? Sorry, I'm bipolar type 2 and I've never thought about killing someone. I wish people would stop being so ignorant!

Sounds like bipolar.. Look up bi polar and see if you have the symptoms. My husband has it and now that he is stable on meds he is ok.. Some times he has moments but he's been on meds for 3 yrs. Do what your dr. tells you and you will start to feel better.Good luck

If you are not in denial then it sounds to me like you are just neurotic.. but I dont know enough about you to say for sure what is or isn't wrong with you.
If I was you I'd see a psychologist and see what he/she says.
