Great question. I believe God would define success as we love him with all ou hearts and grow in knowledge and grace and love towards others. This question seems really timely to me as I have recently had my faith in people a little shaken. I hate to admit but far too many in the church seem to fall int a completely worldly definition of success. And that defining factor being $$$. As much as we need money to live and no one sets out to not be financially unsuccessful, I see far to any people in church judging their own self worth and that of others by the amount of money they acquire. Sadly this even seems to be promoted in some churches where they shamelessly suck up to the rich and powerful and shun those who are in lower income brackets. It seems people have too easily and willingly forgotten the verses that warn about the love of money and how we aren't to give preferential treatment to those are financially successful.

I think God defines success as the treasures we store up for ourselves in heaven through the stewardship of our resources here on earth.

These treasures are relationships, the only thing we can take with us: our relationships with God, self and others.

So:
1) loving Jesus (salvation),
2) loving self,
3) loving others.
The riches of heaven are all about love. The richer our love, the more successful we are in God's eyes.

One way to love others is to witness truth to them. What a fantastic joy to help bring others into eternal paradise! Not because of "our accomplishment," for salvation is the work of the Holy Spirit, but the joy of having the relationship with that person restored forever.

I personally think that God doesn t want the human being to be successful, because ambition and the desire to have more and more do not go together with faith.God wants us to be simple, sincere, to live the day of today as the last day of our lives, without thinking that we could be successful and would probably want more. For God, success is an unnecessary thing and probably an unpleasant one.We should be only successful in our desire to be faithful and good.

It is defined by whether or not we LIVE the most important commandment, which according to Christ is: To love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your might, and to love your neighbor as you love yourself. When we live this we can only behave in ways that define the successful life.
Peace

With respect to a person who lives in harmony with God’s laws, the Bible states: “Everything he does will succeed.”—Psalm 1:3.

The key to success, therefore, lies in doing what Jesus told us to do: “Keep on, then, seeking first [God’s] kingdom and his righteousness, and all these other things will be added to you.”—Matthew 6:33.

success is thus defined as obedience.

Success is easy, just believe in the Lord Jesus Christ with all your heart soul and mind, and body, secondly, love thy neighbor as thy self. The bibles says we are to conform to the image of his son, there is a prayer that you can say that will help you do just that and be a success for the God of the universe. Jesus said that you must be born again. Just pray this prayer believing and you willbe born again, Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me. I pray this prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed that prayer with a sincere heart you are now a born again Christian, Praise the Lord, Now start reading your Bible, Get involved in Church. Its helps to grow your faith in Jesus. Amen. The fact that He is the Creator of all things and Man, who was made in His image, and given an eternal life if Man will obey His words. Otherwise, "success" would be Man, choosing to do what God wanted him to do, and having an eternal life in Heaven by successfully living his life by God's word.

No thinking necessary (you atheists have fun with that one) The Bible tells us to love the Lord your God with all of your heart mind and body and to love your neighbor as your self. If you do this you will be a success with God. Occupation does not mean diddly squat to God nor does wealth.

Giving ourselves totally to God and allow Him to work through us. To help all people, and love others. Success is not money, but the salvation of lives.
