I'm not a nurse but I volunteer at the hospital a lot. Whatever you do, makesure you like what you're doing. Most of the nurses do have an upper middle class lifestyle but they ahve to work hard all day. Several times the nurses have had to stop their lunches or breaks short because the patient in their care needed them and only they had knowledge of what was needed.

YES it's totally worth it in so many ways. I love helping others. Where I live, hospital shifts are 12 hours long, so you work "full-time" at 36 hours a week, which is three days a week. The pay is great and there is tons of time for family and days off. I love the benefits I get through my work, and most people in the medical profession also get great benefits.

You can make a great income in the nursing field. If you are looking for a more normal schedule you may want to consider being a nurse in a doctors office rather than a hospital.
