Have you taken her to the eye doctor? Maybe she can't see very well. Or does she have tons of ear infections, if there is fluid in her ears her equiliberium (spelling) could be off. Those are the first two things that came to mind. If that is ruled out then I would just monitor as closely as you can and maybe put up a gate so slow her down a little. Make sure she has toys somewhere on the main floor even if her room is upstairs, then she won't have to go up and down them so often.

I agree with the others when it comes to have a Dr check out her ears, however I do not agree with the baby gate suggestion. They are not designed to with-hold the weight of a 3 1/2 yr old falling against them. The fall would be much worse with a safety gate tumbling down the stairs along with your daughther than if she fell down the stairs on her own.
Just be patient and insist that she hold the railing when she takes the stairs. I still do this with my kids who are older, and when they didnt, I made them go back up the stairs and do it again the right way. I know it sounds harsh, but it is a good habit to instill in them.
Good luck

My 9 year old daughter still has horrible balance. I have put her in dance to help. She started when she was 3. She falls all the time. She will get up and say "I'm OK I fall all the time." Some kids are just that way. I would just as your Dr. just in case. As far as the stairs I would have a gate at both ends so she can't go up and down without supervision. Stairs can be ver dangerous.

My mom takes care of a girl like that! She is now five, but we started to take care of here since she was 5 months! so she didn't sit up until she was like a year old. She started walking when she turned three. AND she always falls, trips runs into things, trips with her own feet! and yeah, we think that she might have some autism! Well, now she doesn't go to kindergarten she goes to a indermidiate school. Well, I think you should see some of the ways that she does things and or maybe do reasearch yourself so that you can tell the doctor. Because it is very dangerous. Her life is at risk and even if she doesn't have autism, she could still fall on the satirs because she is little!
Well, hope everything goes well!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if there is an actual condition but I have worked with MANY children and have a 3yr old myself and I think all kids are unbalanced and clumbsy I don't know how many times my son has run into a wall or tripped on his own feet. But if its something that seriously concerns you talk to her doctor. About the stairs get safety gates and put them at the top and bottom. Also remind her she could get hurt and to always have mommy or daddy help her. Good luck!

Yes like they said the ear thing will mess you up my 2nd daughter was having some problems like that she would just stumble all the time we thought it had something to do with the way she was walking we took her to the Dr and they told us that she had a inflamed ear not a ear infection just that the walls in the ear where a little swollen and inflamed and it was making her wobbly so they gave her some baby claratin and they fixed her right up.

Besides maybe having an inner ear disturbance, you may notice most toddlers are a tad uncoordinated. Their little feet seem to go faster than what their brains will allow. My kids are grown, but I have grandkids now. The two year old is always stubling over his own feet. The four year old gets a goin' sooo fast, she is always walking into stuff. If your'e still worried, have her eyes and ears checked. But I'll bet she just a toddler.....

I don't think there is a condition, but my brother had the exact same problem. His grade school principal would bring him out on a two person bike and his balance improved dramatically. Maybe enrolling her in a gymnastic class (the balance beams and everything will help). I think just working with her on it will help. Play games where she has to change direction a lot (tag, tag hide and seek) could help also. I hope she improves!

you're no longer the 1st guy or woman I surely have seen jointly with your challenge as is additionally seen with many of the solutions right here. i do no longer understand why human beings experience that way in spite of the incontrovertible fact that. I surely have been observing the Disney Channel because of the fact it first premiered. those days I surely have seen lots of persons whinge approximately my fashionable instruct Hannah Montana. in very almost each and every episode of that instruct, between the persons does something incorrect, make a incorrect selection, takes the incorrect action, etc. Then in the previous the instruct is over, they understand the blunders of their techniques and make sturdy on their selections. I.e. an outstanding message. I admit i do no longer pay as lots interest to different shows as much as HM. however the episodes of Suite existence or Wizards that I surely have seen seem to be the comparable way. this is quite no longer something new. It replaced into the comparable factor interior the 60's and 70's with each and every of the non-Disney sitcoms I grew up with. Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island, misplaced in area - all of them had human beings making incorrect selections and then redeeming themselves by ability of the tip of the instruct. (lower back i think of an outstanding message).
