First, let's clear up the astus/astrum and a comment on oriens.

Astrum is a 2nd declension, neuter noun. Astrum is the nominative singular. If it were to be used, 'astrum' would be correct. 'Astrus' is not a valid word. However, 'stella' is far more commonly used as Latin for 'star' anyway.

'Oriens' as an adjective means 'rising (as the sun or a star), eastern.' What we call the Morning Star today is not always rising or in the east - from where I live it's best seen to the southwest. Not a good choice.

Lucifer and phosphorus (from Greek) were used for Morning Star. Also used were Eous and Stella Veneris (Star of Venus). The planet Venus is what we call the Morning Star today. Remember, the Romans did not know the difference between planets and stars - they were both lights in the sky.

If you want a straightforward literal translation, it would be;

Stella Matutina = Morning Star.

Astrus oriens is the most correct.

Astrum (as many are saying) is incorrect because it is in the accusative, which is grammatically incorrect. Astrus is in the nominative, and oriens agrees with the subject. The adjective follows the subject, and "oriens" is the adjective. I am sure this is 100%
