Carly Simon. Love the songs in which her then husband James Taylor did backup vocals. I believe she sang on some of his, also.
You only asked for one, but Carol King is great, too.

People may not know this but Mariah Carey is A phenominal songwriter & she is my personal favorite right now, besides I can't deny the voice I did not discover until 2 years ago ( no kidding)
Overall it would have to be Ann&Nancy Wilson from Heart.

Josh Groban because his songs are incredibly meaningful, and though he sings softly his voice carries. He has beautiful range, and I love the way he doesn't have to yell or belt on high notes. His voice is beautiful, and it inspires me.

All of the Jonas Brothers are awesome! They all have great talent and their songs are really catchy!
Drake Bell is also really amazing! The cool thing about Drake is that my voice is close to his (only a female version..;D)

Alicia Keys, she actually has some substance to her writing, its not always about one subject all the time. Her words are like poetry.
