We all experience, from time to time, the emotion of Jealousy, but to be consumed with a "spirit of jealousy",is an indication of a deep rooted problem, most often associated with the larger encompassing emotion of Fear. Obviously one who is consistently given over to jealousy, usually has an identity issue and must identify and correct the wrong thinking behind the feelings,to be free of the bondage.

I remember feeling touches of jealousy before I came into my own as a young woman. I have had friends in the past that did not outgrow the problem of jealousy, but my lifelong friends are strong women and men that are well able to rise above feeling jealous of others. I think even the most mature person may have a flash of jealousy, but maturity is the ability to recognize it, and just be rational. I also believe that in the most mature of romantic relationships, jealousy can be provoked. To me, true romantic love is exclusive.

I don't know if it's jealousy, but I know somebody that always tries to one-up me. When I found out my grandma died, she called me to "see how I was" and then went on this huge diatribe about how at least I still had my mother. Her mother had passed away three years ago. And then when I found out that I had borderline personality disorder, she said she had the same exact thing, only much much worse than I had it. And she also said my therapist was a quack because there was no possible way that I could have borderline personality disorder. She the one that doesn't have it, she just likes to make people feel sorry for her.

Yes. And I ended the friendship shortly after I figured that out.

Yes, a long time ago. That kind of person isn't capable of being a real friend. They're easy to spot, and I avoid them.

Like when you know, someone comes to me after a converstation and says... "did you notice who he LOOKED at your hair?? He is SOOOO jealous!!" I never notice stuff like that - but internal spirit - I am a master at.

it was more annoying! those are the type ppl i cant be around for long periods of time. its all bout them, they think the world revolves around them. you cant have a conversation with them around cause they butt in and start talking bout themselves. not to mention talk bout you to make them look or feel better.
