NO! Never wrap your tattoo after the initial first wrapping. All you will do is dry it out and lose the color. Sleep without any clothing over it for the first night. You'll wake up with an imprint of it on your sheets...lol. This is normal, as excess ink bleeds out for 3-7 days. Just wash your sheets. After the first night, just make sure to keep your ointment on it right before bed, and no clothing or you'll be peeling your tattoo off in the morning.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

They should have given you a wee tub of gel stuff, put some moisturiser on it, but dont cover it again after you have removed the original covering. I have 4 Tattoos and each one of them is in good nik and looking as sharp as the day i got em done
As the above caller has stated dont put anything on it she clearly doesnt have a tattoo. You need to put some sort of gel/moisturiser on it for a few days, but avoid stratching it when it gets itchy, try giving it a gentle rub with a damp cloth

If it's upper body wear a pajama top / lower body a pajama bottoms nothing to worry about it will heal up ok. Just put a very small bit of some sort of cream / gel on it. Savlon is a very good healer for all wounds be sure you read the instructions not to be used neat!! it will be cured in a week at most.

where is it?
either way, make sure you leave a thin layer of lotion on it to keep it moist. If it bleeds a little you'll have to deal with it. Only cling wrap is for when you first leave with the tattoo. It sux all the plasma and excess blood & ink to the surface for you to clean.

don't put saran wrap back on it when you sleep. not sure where you got the tattoo but just make sure that it is covered with clothing when you sleep to keep you from getting stuck to your bed. yes, the ink will dry onto your clothes and it'll hurt a bit when you remove it in the morning but if you get in the shower clothed it'll loosen up the ink a bit. then you can wash it with antibacterial soap like you're supposed to do and pat it dry then you can put whatever your artist told you to apply.
good luck!

Try your hardest not to lay on the tattoo. I had a few on my back and it was so easy because I sleep on my stomach. Apply the stuff that they gave you and you'll be fine.

You don't need to put anything on it. A little polysporin antiseptic, but you should be doing that anyway for the first week or two. Other than that it will be fine.
