To go with the disposable cameras on the tables at the reception, we are putting a list at each table of things the guests could try to take pictures of -- like a photo scavenger hunt. I found this idea on eBay, but instead of paying $50 plus shipping to cover my 25 tables, I decided to create my own; plus this lets me customize the suggestions on the card so each table is a little different. Below are the existing ideas, but we're hoping to have some really funny ones, ridiculous ones, etc. to add to it. We want this get the guests to relax and have fun with each other. Any ideas???

Existing ideas:

--Group photo of your table
--Artistic shot of your dinner
--Best Dancer
--Biggest Smile
--Bride and Groom dancing
--Maid of Honor helping Bride
--Child sleeping
--Groom watching Bride from a distance
--Bride and Groom laughing
--The First Dance
--The Wedding Cake
--Groom playing with his ring
--Groom dancing with his mom
--Bride and Groom cutting the cake
--Toast to the newlyweds

There wouldn't really be a winner to the hunt; this would just be a way to get people talking to each other and mingling. If you think there should be a winner, any suggestions on how I could do this? I'm open to it if I could figure it out. Thanks!

Also, this is definitely not my only means of photography. That would be absolutely ridiculous. I have a professional photographer booked for the entire day.

I know that we will get our share of the crappy pictures, but we like the idea and will keep with the disposable cameras. I've done my research and I've bought only from reputable places, and I haven't bought the 'wedding day' cameras, but just regular disposables. Also, I don't imagine anyone taking crappy pictures just to be mean -- what kind of people do you guys go to weddings with? :-)

I am going to really try to answer your question, since no one else has yet (and maybe even use this idea for my wedding!)

-parents of bride
-parents of groom
-someone giving a toast
-someone checking their makeup
-the chicken dance
-the bride and groom kissing
-grandparents with couple
-flower girl and ring bearer dancing
-the get away car
-all the bridemaids manicured toenails
-groomsmen with sunglasses looking tough (this is a great shot for the pro photographer)
-bride and groom linking ring fingers (also a good pro shot pic)
-grandparents with children
-bride with shoes off
-place cards
-favors
this list could go on and on

No winners. it would be more fun if there was some way for people to see the pictures otherwise there is not much point to having winners, how would you tell who won if you can't see the pictures? How about having all the picutres developed from the cameras and then have a party when you get back from your honeymoon or for your first anniversary or when ever you like. Make a few big albums and put the pictures together according to the catagories or by camera. It would take a little time and thought but this way you would have a unique wedding treasuer that all your friends would always actually want to look at. Imagine seeing those pictures on your 10th or 20th or 50th anniversary. Really good idea.

Pspoptart is right do not rely on this as your method of getting wedding photos on the cheap. fun is fun but you are going to want at least a few formal shots to preserve the day and its once in a lifetime( we hope)activities.

I used to work in the photolab at Walgreens and I have to say...these disposable cameras on the table is one of those ideas that sound really great on paper but don't work out so well in reality.

1. Guests get tipsy. They think its funny to fill rolls of under the tables, the bathrooms, and um...private areas

2. Flash doesn't go off, fingers over the lens, Aunt Milly accidentally forgets and takes her camera home with her....in all cases you are out the cost of the camera and developing with nothing to show for it

3. Kids get ahold of them and you suddenly have a roll of their feet and their parents

4. Brides look for the "next big deal" and buy off Ebay or craigslist and end up with expired film or used camears from unscrupulous sellers

5. People bring their personal cameras and digital cameras and don't use the toss aways on the tables, then brides have to track down all the guests to get their pics.

IF you are only doing this as a fun thing it may be alright. If you are planning on having this as your only means of photography I have to strongly advise you against this and really reccomend you get a photographer. I can't count the number of brides we had in tears from just this idea.

Is your guest list comprised of 8 year olds? Are you having the reception at the local park? It is a wedding, not a family reunion! Keep it classy, and save the games for your future children's birthday parties.

I'm willing to promise you that somebody will take random shots of peoples feet, partly out of meanness, and partly because they suck with a camera. Also I can promise you that at the very least 2 cameras will go home with somebody, even if you have a strict "leave the camera's here" basket.
With that said, you will definitely get your goofy pictures (maybe even one of a toilet).

Sorry, I don't have any more to add, but I do have a question: since you have to get the film developed later, how do you determine a winner at the reception?

I think that is an excellent idea.
