Well its my first time in a bar or club and I was wondering how am I supposed to order a drink? I mean… I’ve heard of some people saying rum and coke. So do I just go up to the bartender and ask for a rum and coke? Oh and I don’t want anyone to know that its my first time… so any suggestions on drinking and how to order a drink would be really appreciated. I’m 19 btw, so just turned legal :)

oh and do they sell non-alcoholic drinks in a bar or nightclub? i'm talking about the fancy kinds... also the smaller pubs? lol thanks

also, is it a good idea to go for shots for a first timer? and the slice of lemon or other fruit they put on your drink... what are you supposed to do with it?

I wouldn't do shots the first time out. Depending on what you're shooting, it could mess you up worse than anything.

When ordering, just tell the bartender you want a rum and coke. If you want a 7&7, say so. They don't care if it's your first time or not. lol

Don't drink it too fast. You could end up on the floor quick as a flash. Kind of nurse your drink. At the prices they charge, that's the best thing to do.

As far as non-alcoholic drinks, sure. Just tell them you want it virgin. Like a virgin mary, instead of a bloody mary. It'll be made the same way, only without the vodka. Many people go in and order club soda with a twist of lemon or lime. It at least makes it *look* like they're drinking, even when they're not. (They're usually the designated driver. lol)

Hope I was able to help you out a little. Have fun, live life to the fullest and die happy. :o)

Absolutely no shots, unless you want to be picked up off the floor. If you are drinking alcohol, I would have the rum and coke. But sip it. Don't chug it down.
If you want a non-alcoholic drink, order a Fuzzless Navel (it's made with Peach Nectar and Orange Juice) or a Papaya Pina Colada (Pineapple, Coconut and Papaya.)
If the bar has a waiter or waitress, order from them, if not, then order at the bar. Just do what everyone else is doing.

I wouldn't do shots for the first time in a public place. You just don't know your tolerance. Wait til you have a few friends over or at a party with people you trust.

I completely agree with the warning about not sitting your drink down. Never leave any drink unguarded in a bar ( alcoholic or non-alcoholic ) and I wouldn't accept a drink from someone else, either. You just can't trust people anymore.

Well if i was you i would not go with a strong drink because it is your first time. So i think you should go with Rum and Coke. Some places do have non-alcoholic drinks like Daiquiri's and colada's.

BTW no i wouldn't do shots for your first time either.
Some people eat the fruit and some don't so it is up to you.

Club soda with lime or lemon totally looks like a real vodka/rum drink.
Or you could get white wine with club soda (ask for a White Wine Spritzer) Can't go wrong with that.

Shots are NOT a good idea anytime really. It will kill going down and you get drunk fast.

CAREFUL. These days in clubs a guy could stick something in your drink to make you black out, so he can take advantage of you. ALWAYS watch your drink.

all bars serve non-alcoholic drinks. (daquiras, pina colodas, shirley temples...) dont take shots your first time, be in the comfort of your own home. just walk up to the bar like you own the place. have money in hand, ready to pay. know what you want!! bartenders HATE waiting for you to figure it out and will probably skip right over you. try an absolut stress, its a fruity vodka based drink that will get you drunk but also taste greats!!!

Any bartender in the world will make you a non-alcoholic mixed drink if you ask. In the US just ask for a Shirley Temple. If you want to try something stronger, you might try a White Russian, which is cream, vodka and Kahlua, and is like drinking desert.

You might consider trying a glass of wine as your first alcoholic drink. The alcohol level is much lower in a glass of wine versus a mixed drink made with hard liquor. If you are not familiar with wines, start out with a white or blush variety; they are usually easier on the palate.

Of course, you will ALWAYS have the opportunity to order non-alcoholic drinks in ANY bar.
