This is not Charles M. Russell, who is pretty popular. I am looking for M. Charles, who does seascapes. I think he is from NC, but I am not sure.

M. Charles was another name for Donald Leary, an artist who lived on the Outer Banks in the 1950s.

There was an exhibit of his art in 2004 at the Roanoke Island Festival Park, but I can't find any exhibits listed since. At least one painting is in the collection of the town of Nags Head, NC,

and there was one for sale on Craigslist-Richmond as of 10:00 Wednesday pm.
You might try contacting Nags Head or Roanoke Island to see if there are plans for another exhibit. Also, try looking in Art Index or a similar encyclopedia of artisis for a bio.
