Lap belts are NOT safe. All newer cars are required to have lap & shoulder belts in all seating positions.

Lap only belts can cause internal injuries.

The vehicle I drive for work only has a lap belt. Rarely wear it though.

Only when I drive in a state with a seat belt law.
That's not happening any more.
Thank goodness (and ABATE, and the various state MRO'S) not all of those have helmet laws.

P.S. The other guy should see the one about what happened to the test monkeys that were forced to wear shoulder belts when those got tested. Deformed for life.

I do. I drive an older vehicle and they have no shoulder belts. There is nothing wrong with just the lap belt!

Well when I had my 68 Fairlane that was all there was to wear.So if that is what you got you use it.
