Another day has come and gone and Jesus did not rapture His church. So, why do people still think that Jesus will return in our generation?

It is you, Punch and Ranger Gord who have convinced me we are indeed in the last days...

2 Peter 3
...scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”

Remember, the completion of all things is only one lifetime away. When you die, you are no longer tied to the physical, you enter the spiritual world of timelessness. All time will be completed in an instant and within a millisecond the rapture of the church has taken place, the seven year tribulation has transpired and Christ's second coming has already saved Israel from her enemies. Now you stand before the judgment seat having to give an account for your scoffing at the only salvation you refused that was offered freely and at so great a cost.

Swoosh - Exactly. He is still waiting on you, as it says in 2 Peter 3:9...
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

People are just trying to read the signs of the end times, but for generations people have been doing this. The Bible says that no one knows the day or hour of that time.

More important than Jesus coming to rapture his church is did Jesus come into your heart?

Some places in the bible refer to a generation as 40 years, other places a generation is 120, etc. And lets not forget that a day with the Lord is like 1000 years, so whos to say when we will recieve our spiritual bodies? Some know-it-alls claim the year will be 2017. Jesus says only the father knows.

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
Matthew 24:36-41

Hope I helped :)

I'm not sure why people are so sure it's this generation either. i mean some people say "we live in such terrible times, it must be soon"...but if you think about it, the Civil War was a terrible time, Sodom and Gommorah was pretty nasty, etc...i think thats one of the main arguments FOR it being in this generation, but thats what all the other generations said too...
i believe that, as it says in the Bible, his return will be "like a theif in the night", NO ONE on this earth will know when it is.

Who says that Christ will return in our generation?

A similar mistake was made a long time ago - the result was a poem called Revelations which was written after the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the writer/many Christians were aghast that Christ did not quickly return to decimate the Roman Empire/keep Jerusalem safe..

We abide by God's timeline and God does not abide by our timeline.

Peace..

The word "rapture" isn't in the bible. It's a made-up word used by people who don't know better.

Jesus has come today. He is a little bit more present in my heart than He was yesterday. And I hope He'll be a little bit more present tomorrow. "The Kingdom of God is at hand" means that it's here and now, coming in present tense. Not some uber-dramatic even out of some fundamentalists fervid daydreams.

It says that the generation that sees Israel come to be their own country (1948) will see the return of Jesus. He is on His way, keep looking up, you will see His return. There are alot of great programs on now in regard to this. Manna-Fest is speaking on this now. You should watch it, has great information on the end times.

The popular Christian doctrine that Jesus Christ will return is not based on the Bible.
The Bible tells us that we are not expecting a second Messiah, or a return of the first Messiah, but we are to expect visitations.
There is no Messiah except for Jesus Christ.
Anyone who comes or has come is not Jesus Christ, but a different individual, sent by God to do His work.
It would be ludicrous for anyone to claim they are Jesus. Even Jesus said that could never be: "anyone who says he is me is not me."

There's a lot of prophecy in the bible that predicts the end times. Read Epicenter by Joel Rosenberg. It will send chills down your spine. By the way, He hasn't come yet because He has mercy on those that don't know yet. He is waiting for more sheep to come into his fold.
