Haloperidol decanoate ester is given as an injection in treatment of non-compliant schizophrenia patients. This drug has a high incidence of extra-pyrimidal effects, which can increase over the years, so after some time these, or the patients reaction to them, may be construed to be "bizarre behavior." For more information on this drug, type in "Haldol decanoate" into Yahoo web search. In the links that come up, wikipedia has a good summary.

The tendency with such non-compliant patients is to start them on a med then, if it seems to work, just tend to forget about them so that their comfort status is not very often considered or reviewed. The side effects can be very disconcerting and the patient may behave bizarrely as a protest.

I would suggest approaching their physician with the suggestion that he/she put the patient on a newer atypical medication and check for extra-pyramidal side effects that have resulted in permanent brain damage.

Good luck, good health, peace and love!
