Congrats on raising your children in the ways of God! So few do anymore!
The question of who made God can be answered by simply looking at space and asking, "Does space have an end?" Obviously, it doesn’t. If there is a brick wall with "The End" written on it, the question arises, "What is behind the brick wall?" Strain the mind though it may, we have to believe (have faith) that space has no beginning and no end. The same applies with God. He has no beginning and no end. He is eternal.
The Bible also informs us that time is a dimension that God created, into which man was subjected. It even tells us that one day time will no longer exist. That will be called "eternity." God Himself dwells outside of the dimension He created (2 Timothy 1:9, Titus 1:2). He dwells in eternity and is not subject to time. God spoke history before it came into being. He can move through time as a man flips through a history book.
Because we live in the dimension of time, logic and reason demand that everything must have a beginning and an end. We can understand the concept of God’s eternal nature the same way we understand the concept of space having no beginning and end—by faith. We simply have to believe they are so, even though such thoughts put a strain on our distinctly insufficient cerebrums.
Jesus only had an earthly mommy. He never had a heavenly mommy. Scripture give us the best definition. Jesus is God wrapped in human flesh.
And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” Ex. 3:14
Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” John 8:58
God can't lie. Titus 1:2
I and My Father are one. John 10:30
Then God said, “Let US make man in OUR image, according to OUR likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Gen. 1:26
For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the WORD, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 1 John 5:7
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Col. 2:9
Jesus is both God and man. As a man (human flesh) Jesus had to pray to His Father just as we do. But he's also God. This is a little complicated but it's biblical and how God described himself to us.
God
He is worshiped (Matt. 2:2,11; 14:33; 28:9)
He is prayed to (Acts 7:59; 1 Cor. 1:2)
He was called God (John 20:28; Heb. 1:8)
He was called Son of God (Mark 1:1)
He is sinless (1 Pet. 2:22; Heb. 4:15)
He knew all things (John 21:17)
He gives eternal life (John 20:28)
The fullness of deity dwells in Him (Col. 2:9)
Man
He worshiped the Father (John 17)
He prayed to the Father (John 17:1)
He was called man (Mark 15:39; John 19:5).
He was called Son of Man (John 19:35-37)
He was tempted (Matt. 4:1)
He grew in wisdom (Luke 2:52)
He died (Rom. 5:8)
He has a body of flesh and bones (Luke 24:39)
God bless you and your children!

Hopefully this will help. First, make sure they know the extent of who God is. He is bigger, more powerful than anything we can imagine. God has always been there because God is outside of time. That may be hard for them to grasp. Explain the concept of infinity. That is at the beginning of time, not just at the end when we go to heaven. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one. Jesus and God are one in the same. So, if God doesn't have a mommy since he didn't need one neither does Jesus. The trinity is a tough one. Explain it like an egg having three parts-the yolk, the white, and the shell. The three are separate, but are really one.
Hope some of this helps! Pray that God will give you wisdom and the right words. He will:)

Nobody made God, God always was and always will be. God never had a beginning
Jesus was conceived by the holy spirit and born to the virgin Mary,
God, Jesus and the Holy spirit, this is a hard topic to understand, The Trinity is God in three persons, God in Heaven, his son was God on Earth, but while Jesus walked the earth God was still in heaven. The Holy Spirit is God, The Holy spirit is his spirit, God is not a person so he can be any where he wants, God is everywhere and knows everything, you cant hide anything from God, God wants us to seek a relationship with us.

Who made God / where did god come from... no mortal knows and no mortal ever will... untill God decides to tell us. So it is something we need not worry about as it is something we can do nothing about...and it does not affect us here on this earth any way.
Dose Jesus have a mommy...yes, at least on this earth. Her name was Mary.( you can decide how to deal with the conception...god did it and we do not know how)... unless you are prepaired to go into the Christian understanding... if you know it... then you can again plead that no mortal knows...Read the first two chapters of the book of Luke with them on this... a good story...
God / Jesus / Holy Spirit(the Trinity)...again if you are not prepaired to go into all the Christian understanding of it just say... God is God and God is refered to as Father... he can make himself known to manking in many different ways.... he seems to have chosen to interact with mankind in the form we call The Son and in the form we call The Holy Spirit... these are actualy all God choosing to appear in different forms to help us in different ways.
I invite you to my web site for some of the basics of The True Christian Faith... I go into a bit on God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit there... http://www.mikesfaith.com
Good luck with the question of where did all the other people come from if there was only Adam and Eve and one son.... I had to deal with that in a Sunday school class of 8 to 11 yr olds... fortunatly a couple of the older ones had been properly instructed at home and bailed me out...

Religion really is a dilemma for young parents today, because there is so much controversy over religion, I have been a catholic for 50 years now and I still question the validity of it all, some will tell you it's all true where others will tell you it's all a lie or simply a myth, our children were brought up catholic, today they do not believe or even go near a church, so as parents we often wonder what we did or say wrong to turn them away, they tell us it had nothing to do with us and that they simply see the bible as a mythical story that holds no truth, I cannot tell you what to say to your children I can only say what ever you do say regarding religion make it factual for them, may God bless.

That is the right age to ask questions. Catholic kids start religious education in 1st grade to prepare for their 1st Holy Communion in the 2nd grade. Part of being a parent is reading and seeking answers like you are doing because kids do ask. Sounds like you have some smart kids. Good for you. You should be very proud!
Here is an explanation of the Holy Ghost..

Otherwise what Sophie said in the posting above.

1) God has always been around.
2) God put Jesus into Mary's womb.
3) God is God. Jesus is God as a man. The Holy Spirit is the soul of God.

God was never "made". He always was.
I would explain God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit the way St. Patrick used to: He said a single three leaf clover is made up of three leaves...yet the three are one...like God.

I don't want to sound mean, but if you sincerely care about your children knowing these things, then you have to totally know what you are talking about.
I mean you. Just you. Not what anybody tells you to believe. Just what you have felt compelled to believe through serious study.
Research Judaism first to really understand Christianity.
You have to believe these things with all your soul for your children to believe it as well.
Best wishes on your journey.

Think about it and the only logical answer to all the questions is that there are no gods. Gods are human invention and we have made more than 2500 of them over the years. Perhaps your intelligent children are questioning the existence of gods just as other children of that age are questioning the existence of Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. You stop lying to them about Santa when they question his existence, why keep the pretence about gods?
