What is the longest you have been unemployed? I am 28 and have two bachelor's degrees and cannot find a job. I should have bought stock in Miller Lite...haha!

I've got marketing and office skills up the yin yang (degrees) but it took me almost a year and a half looking, when my previous employer went out of business. Just having a degree or two doesn't guarantee anything. And doing 30 interviews a week really, really bites when you're up against 150 other people applying for the same job.

Sign on with three or four temp services, one of them will keep you working steady. Once I went with those, I found full time work through them, the temp job turned into full time permanent without being too much lower in salary.

While Manpower didn't stand behind their employees, Adecco sure did, as did Remedy Staffing. I can recommend both those last two very highly.

Longest I was unemployed was a month.

Check into temp agencies - there are a lot of good temp-to-hire positions out there, but it would of course depend on your area. Just apply for every job you can - even just a temporary job making minimum wage is still better than nothing. Good luck!

I was unemployed for about a year, i had a baby and it threw everyting off track. It is a scary feeling not knowing where my next paycheck was going to come from. I suggest you network with friends and family and go to job fairs, as well as checking out websites of different companies. Try offbeat companies or ones that are not well known. Goodluck!!

That really sux dude. It just confirms that all the degrees in the world still don't pay the bills. I have a degree as well and I drive a truck for Sears/Schneider. And I'm happy about it. I've only gone about a month unemployed while I trained as a truck driver. I didn't claim any unemployment during that time. I stopped buying crap and managed my money very well during that time.

Me too, I am 30, 5 years of military experience, a degree, and a top secret clearance and working at the mall just to make ends meet. What's the deal? This sucks. I hopeful and being patient. Keep putting your name out there is my advice.

sucks doesnt it? I have been unemployed a number of times, but I have only quit 2 jobs. makes ya feel a little useless and sh***Y. welcome to my world. forgive me if i dont feel too much sympathy for someone with 2 degrees. if you file for unemployment, well hell you'll probably get it. meanwhile enjoy the beer. ya know what really sucks? its being qualified for something and still being rejected. I had a managerial position for 10 years, then that business shut down. for a while no one would hire me. But then someone took a chance and hired me, and then they hired in a woman who had no experience, just out of prison for drug related charges and 2 months into her employment she was offered a manager position. No, she did not do anything out of the ordinary to set herself apart. She was attractive though. of course when I found out I went ballistic and quit that lousy job. Now that sucks. only thing worse is your woman leaving you for another woman.
