Probably so-
but why? why lose out on the improved flavor and aroma?

Yes you can skip the vanilla if you would like.
A lot of people (like grown ups) don't put vanilla in anything at all because it is made out of vanilla beans and alcohol (unless it is artifical I THINK but not sure).

It adds a more 'vanilla' and distinguished taste - doesn't really do THAT much and you won't be missing out on much without it.

It just rounds out the flavor of the cookie.
It will not affect the baking process so if you are out you can skip it. You probably will not notice a big difference in taste, but it will be slightly blander than if you had used vanilla.

Sure, but the chocolate chip cookie flavour is about balance. It will still be a chocolate chip cookie, but without the kick. You know, you might want to dip them in melted white chocolate or pair it with vanilla ice cream. (That was SO Martha Stewart!) Bon appetit!

Don't worry, the vanilla just gives it a vanilla flavor. It will be fine if you skip it.

ditto what many said... it's an important flavoring, but in a pinch, you can do without it.

LOL "Grown ups" don't avoid it because it has alcohol in it, or for any other reason. That's pretty crazy and far fetched! Grown ups would probably run out to the store and get some in order not to leave it out. Any alcohol is cooked out when foods bake at high temperatures.

yeah. the vanilla just adds a hint of flavor, and you would barely notice it's missing (if you do at all)
