I am in the process of losing more then 100 lbs. There are a million alternatives these days. I am a junk food junkie. I love sweets. I do the weight watchers plan and set aside points every day for the things I enjoy. I buy 100 calorie snack, they even have twix, m&m's and three musketeers bars in 100 calorie. Hostess makes 100 calorie cup cakes and so on. Weight watchers has there brand of ice cream that is really great with a bit of hershey's syrup on it. I have learned by seeking and finding an alternative to my cravings I am able to not binge when I go into a convenience store. This has really worked. I have found that if I deny myself what I want I will eat three times as much. Good Luck.

The best thing that you can do is to actually give in to your cravings.
I know that this sounds a bit odd, but studies have shown that if you want something but are dieting, you will eat and eat, and eat until you actually cave in and enjoy your cravings. Now in addition to eat the junk food you have also eaten a couple hundred calories of other food, so now you've really blown your diet.
What you should do is to take the item that you want and remove 1/2 of a serving and freeze it or give it away (giving away is better).
Now drink a glass of water and think about your treat. Now when you give in and eat it, think to yourself right afterwards "was it really worth it?" If it was, then only having half a serving is not going to blow your diet but there is a good chance that if you really think about it-it wasn't as good as you thought it would be. Then you'll be tempted less the next time. After a while you won't have to hold back cravings--you just won't get them.

My boyfriends mom is going through the same thing, and I spend at lot of time at her house, and I'm going on a diet myself just not quite as drastic, but the best advice I have is, have a buddy who's willing to help, and everything in moderation! Fruits and veggies are great are a great start, so when you want something sweet reach for strawberries instead of something icky.
Just stick to portion sizes. The best thing to do I think is start slowly, dwindling down the portion sizes and frequency of eating bad sugary foods, because if you just cut yourself off cold turkey, you'll be more likely to splurge and just go all out.
I used to be a big fan of soda and could easy go through a 12 pack in a matter of 3-4 days. So my boyfriend made a bet to see who could drink one the slowest (he averages like 3-4 a week) of course I lost at first, but the competition drove me to beat him so he wouldn't do his little "i won i won dance"

By choosing the temptations you are going to give in to carefully, Some veggies are sweet, like jicama, then there are the fruits, raisins, dried aprocots, etc. DARK chocolate is also good, since you don't need a lot to satisfy and it is good for your heart.

Well if u see something u like and it isn't healthy, eat something healthy and most of the time u will forget about it. Also exercise daily because without excercise, u wont be able to loose as much weight as u want to! Good luck!

allow yourself to have small portions of what you want so you don't binge later. Also, you gotta remember you can't just take something away and not fill the void. Keep hydrated, go for water, and skip out on soda, juices, wastes of calories and too much sugar. go for healthy snacks high in fiber to keep you satisfied so you don't go for the cravings. Eventually your cravings will shift and you'll want the healthy things :)
