Do you agree "War is an obscenity."?!? Civilized societies like Canada, by definition, abhor obscenities. How then can Canada honourably, successfully fight a future foreign war.
So far, in Asia we joined the US in arms to protect South Korea, but refused to defend South Viet Nam.
In fact US Viet Nam era draft dodgers poured into our country like Mexican illegals in the states, and became our best "peace loving" citizens.
Lately, in the Middle East, we fought side-by-side with the Americans in the "war against terrorism", in the terrorist stronghold of Afganistan ... but we said NO to the Iraq "police action".
Example: Iran might be attacked any day now, by our friends south of the border, from bases in Iraq & Afganistan, especially if Iran's terrorist-supporting nuclear bomb develoment prevokes a justified pretext for war (apparently necessary) "shock & awe" US military response? Do we go too? Why or why not? Can we seperate ourselves from U.S. vital intrests?!?

My late brother Al was working for Boston Edison on 9-11, when planes from Boston were bound for California with Boston Edison employees aboard; driven into the tallest towers in New York. He's with God in Paradise now.
I am married to a proud American...Cece is a Republican, and we argue about the merits of Bush. She agrees with some of you American Yahoos; calling my Canada "gutless" for being neutral when Iraq was invaded, even now when Bagdad has turned to quicksand.
My son has applied to join the Canadian military (againts my advice), which is fighting in Afghanastan. He proudly holds dual citizenship, and loves to belt out "Born in the USA".
I begged him to join the Coast Guard instead, so he could stay at home, away from cowardly road bombs..
I hate "the manditory military year" that some US senators are lobbying for in Washington, for fear Canada will copy-cat America, as we've done so often before.
Like those Miss America beauty queens, I want "world Peace". Pray!

Because of the evils and injustices that all war brings with it, we must do everything reasonably possible to avoid it
Legitimate defense can be not only a right but a grave duty for one who is responsible for the lives of others. The defense of the common good requires that an unjust aggressor be rendered unable to cause harm. For this reason, those who legitimately hold authority also have the right to use arms to repel aggressors against the civil community entrusted to their responsibility

I agree that war is an obscenity. Unfortunately, we live in an obscene world. Canada can sucessfully and honorably fight a future foreign war when the enemy is more obscene than war, and US Soldiers are right beside you, or are you right beside us? This war is winnable, and MUST be won. American blood, guts, money, and munitions have brought freedom to much of the obscene world. Do you know we currently have 2 Aircraft carriers off the coast of Iran? I can't wait for the shock and awe to start on this pissant little mahmoud akmindinjad. I know I can't spell his name, he probably can't spell mushroom cloud.
I have a son who is nearing age to serve, and I am terrified of the thought of possibly losing my only son. I am more terrified of what the jihadists want to do to my country which would include my entire family.
It would be nice if you could separate yourself from US vital interests. Unfortunately there is NO HOLE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH WHERE THE JIHADISTS WILL NOT ATTACK, NOR IS THERE ANYPLACE ON EARTH WE WILL NOT CHASE THEM.
I would suggest you grow a set, or at least shut up and stay out of our way. Why do you put war on terrorism in quotation marks? Because no Canadian planes have been flown into Canadian buildings? And just what do you mean by justified pretext for war? Would you prefer to wait until an ICBM falls into Quebec?
All you really have to do is nothing. War will be upon you, whether you would have it or not. PLEASE WAKE UP, MY FRIEND. SHAKE YOURSELF, AND REALIZE THE TIMES WE ARE LIVING IN.
If you are NOT an islamic jihadist, you are an infidel to them, and they believe Allah has told them to kill you. Watch the news, and see what they're doing AROUND THE WORLD. THEY DO NOT RESPECT BOUNDARIES AND WILL NOT ACCEPT NEUTRALITY. THERE ARE TWO OPTIONS: KILL OR BE KILLED.

War is hell on earth, but it is sometime unavoidable. Consider a world where freedom-loving countries refuse to fight. In a microcosm, it would be like a city without a police force. Criminals would rule. In the world where the former defenders of freedom become pacifists, rogue nations or international terrorists would work their treachery unscathed. Freedom would become a rare luxury, and Western nations would become increasingly isolated islands of refuge in a world gone mad.
Canadians might look to the example of Britain, the parent country of both the US and Canada. Britains have made great sacrifices as steadfast allies of the United States for roughly the last century. With the sometimes help of Canada and other commonwealth nations, Britain and her former colonies have been in the thick of the fight for a free world. Churchill would be proud. Britains know their history, and they know that enemies of freedom who are not contained early can drag the world into shattering conflict.
The present fight is to destroy the cancer of Islamic terrorism by planting a free, self-governing nation in the ashes of Saddam's terror state. That state has become a mecca for terrorists, many of whom have been armed by Iran. Iran has been working feverishly on nuclear weapons, and there is no indication that Iran would not use such weapons on Israel. It is a rogue state dominated by fanatical theocrats who dream of a world ruled by Islamic law, a world without freedom.

And who, of the individuals who truly have the authority to accomplish that, are "tense that Cheney be tried for conflict crimes"? are you able to call one member of the ICJ that has referred to as for an indictment of the former vice-president? Do you additionally be attentive to what the ICJ is? Heck, i think of OJ did homicide his ex-spouse and her boyfriend, yet that doesn't propose that there could be yet another trial purely because of the fact of what i think of. the comparable is going for you, > actually all of us who does actual learn allow you to be attentive to that web content at the instant are not authentic documentation. I asked you to call one (purely one) member of the ICJ it is even thinking issuing an indictment to **** Cheney and you submit an internet site that's no longer from the ICJ. wager what, the three morons from "loose substitute" have an internet site. Is that data? of direction no longer. there is greater data that Bigfoot exists. How approximately you have some refresher on a thank you to do actual learn and check out the ICJ. Then come returned with what you have. >BTW. I did hardship to do a splash prognosis for in this count. The ICJ deals with international agreements, no longer conflict crimes. besides the fact that, the international offender courtroom does prosecute conflict crimes and crimes against humanity; they have issued warrants to the president of Sudan at present. The ICC has gained hundreds of courtroom circumstances with regard to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, yet has no longer got here upon any foundation for issuing any warrants, much less indictments.

Thankfully enough Canadians saw good reason to help fight the Fascists in WW2.
Cant remember if you were in Korea, but I think so.
If Iran does get into the habit of chucking nukes at the USA in the future, remember the fallout will not respect your international borders.

Canada has a military???? Wow, news to me. Not that they would need one with their big brother to the south keeping all those thousands of miles of border safe. Oh, and dont forget the Alaska/Canada area- while Russia is overflying our airspace, (Im stationed at Ft. Richardson, AK right next to Elmendorf AFB) and our F22's and F15's along with AWACS are escorting them back to their airspace- we keep Canada safe through that too.
Seriously though, the soldiers in the Canadian Army are brave souls. Seperate yourselves if you wish, by all means. Would be better for us- at least then maybe Canada wouldnt let people pass into the US with just a declaration that they are a citizen and would require passports to get/out.

My little 2 cents worth is that any country that believes in God is in peril of future attacks from Islam terrorists.
It is their well known goal to destroy infidels, by their terms all who do not worship Allah.
It's a wonderful thing, Canada that you are a peace loving country. But so is the US. We know though when enough is enough and aren't afraid to stand up for freedom for our country and even others. This terror threat is REAL and SERIOUS
on a global level.

Depends if your government grows a brain and realizes that your an independent nation and you have the choice to say no. You guys went in on your own free will and paid for it. Its not the fault of the US that you guys went to war.

Yes by all means join us (the U.S.A) in our global war on terrorism. We are the worlds saviours and all mankind will thank us someday.
It is kinda like elementery school dodge ball. Which team do you pick. The team with the big tough guys? Or do you pick the team with the weak lazy people so one could try to help them out. I think that is what this is all about.
