I came across some little bumps on my dogs skin the other night when I was scratching around his neck. He seems to only have them around his neck area and he is being unusually itchy. There little smaller then pea size and I can't really get a good look at them cause he has so much fur that it's hard to see. Does anyone know what this could be? And where I live we don't have ticks and very few cases of fleas, and he hasn't been travelling anywhere outside my province (where fleas are more common) but I don't want to rule those out just in case!

Ive done a little researching for you. Definitely take a look at the first & second links because they give a descripion of all kinds of bumps that can be found all over the body.

Very Good luck!

Also, It doesn't really matter where you live, fleas and ticks can be found anywhere outside. So definitely consider that.

1st thing to do is rule out fleas, flea bites are usually around the neck area and tail base, also there would be black droppings in the coat, so get some flea protection such as frontline, if the skin lumps persist, take him to your vet for an allery test.

schnauzer bumps are what I call them because 1 of my schnauzers is covered in them I have to take him to the vet every couple weeks to get a steroid shot. I do put him in the tub and get them nice and soft and run a comb through his hair to get the scabs out of his fur try a really good oatmeal shampoo that might work too

It could be an allergic reaction to something he came in contact with or something that he ate. It could also be that his collar is irritating his skin. Take him to the vet and have him checked out, they can tell you what is going on.
