I figure Ive stripped the bolt somehow (after doing numerous oil changes), how do I get the bolt out now. The hex head is still connected, but as stated when I put a wrench or drill on to get it off it rotates but does not tighten or loosen.

try loosening at while grabing some pliers and try pulling it out at the same time and replace the plug. If that doesn't work then i would suggest pulling the oil pan and accessing the damage to the pan and screw. After the pan is off you can use a multitude of tools to get the thing out. After that you might need to drill and tap a new hole or buy a new pan.

And dodgeman is not the keeper of all car knowlege. He is knowlegeable, but people know the same things that he does if not more.

Don't know about dodge man but you got a problem. I would proceed to remove the oil pan and then find a way to remove the part. An oil pan has a threaded plug and I hope someone didn't replace it with a bolt. Proly go to salvage yard and get another pan unless you are expert with welding.

Trip to the junkyard for a new oilpan might be your easiest and cheapest bet.

After reading the below post please keep in mind what I said. You can spend all day drilling and tapping and blah blah blah or you can save tons of time and money and hit the JY down the street.

try to put a vise on it and pull down when you spin it. or try to wedge a screwdriver between the bolt and the oilpan

drill it out, you may have to tack weld it in place to stop it from spinning. you will then have to re-thread the oil pan.
