Here are some fun facts that many of you may not have known:
-Atheists are not allowed to join boy scouts, even though they get funded by the government and get special land use
-In a national poll conducted by Minnesota researchers, found that atheists are the least trusted minority in the U.S.
-In 7 different states, atheists are not allowed to run for governmental or civil office (state senate, representative, court judge, etc.)
-In those same states, atheists are not allowed to testify in court at all. (Arkansas, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, SC, NC, and Texas)
-"No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God." -George Bush Sr.
-It's still illegal in many states to buy alcohol or buy a car on Sundays, because of someone elses religious beliefs.
-The words "Under God" were added to the pledge of alligence in 1954. Before, no such words existed in the pledge.

And it says separation of church and state in the constitution, HA! Yeah, that's real separated when the president comments on atheists.

Sabbonist: there is a difference between having an imagination and being set in stone about something you have no evidence for. Atheists are not limited in what they can think up, we just do it more rationally. Its completely different.

well, actually, i DON'T ask...but now that you mention it-
1-i have a hard time supporting an organization that gets federal funding while it discriminates, and i think it's a shame for kids to get batted around like pawns in the debate-we need to remember that scouting is about the kids
2-polls are polls...it's not as if there is any tangible reward or punishment based on the results
3-the federal courts have ruled against these state laws whenever they have been challenged- i wholeheartedly support any and all efforts to have these archaic statutes removed from the books, -they're discriminatory, unconstitutional, and unenforceable
4-who really cares what george bush (EITHER of them) thinks about atheists?
5-the legality of sunday sales is something that needs to be taken up with your local government
6-before, the money spent. afterward, the money spent...
finally, the constitution does not contain the phrase 'separation of church and state'...no legal document does...what the constitution says is that congress shall make no laws respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the exercise thereof

this is NOT true. that goes against your Constitutional Rights.
that's why the D.A. and the defense don't really act about a juror's religion.
OK..well Barbra Bush said "that black people should be used to the kind of treatment they were getting because that is where they came from"
i mean so what. there are going to be racists people in the world. that's life. the president has a right to their own opinion just like you seem to have.
the boy scouts are a religious organization. there are atheist camps that parents can send their children too. I'm sure they wont allow kids with a religion in.
-It's still illegal in many states to buy alcohol or buy a car on Sundays, because of someone elses religious beliefs.
people VOTE on those decisions. if you don't live there...don't worry about it.

American leaders have changed their views about religious beliefs over the years.
LEADERS IN THE 1700s and 1800s
"The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason." — Benjamin Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanack, 1758.
"This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it." — John Adams, 2nd president of the U.S.
"What have been the fruits of Christianity ? Superstition, bigotry and persecution." — James Madison, 4th president of the U.S.
"The Bible is not my Book and Christianity is not my religion. I could never give assent to the long complicated statements of Christian dogma." — Abraham Lincoln.
MORE RECENT LEADERS
"I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God." — President George Bush, August 27, 1988.
"Our culture is superior. Our culture is superior because our religion is Christianity and that is the truth that makes men free." — Pat Buchanan, US Presidential candidate.

You know, I've seen that video before and at first I was aghast at all the stuff Atheists couldn't do and what Bush said but then I read this quote
"The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited by the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were."
~John Fitzgerald Kennedy
I agree with that.

Well, that's quite a list and I am sorry that they are excluded as much as they are.
Now let's ask the next question. Why do atheists think that being snide and hateful is going to improve their lot in life? Seems to me that if they have valid points to make, the sensible thing would be to make these points known in a calm and fair way, not try to insult people's beliefs. That will only cause people to treat atheist worse because they are acting irresponsible and juvenile.
