If you are familiar with the scriptures you will know there are several titles for God, YHVH being just one of them.
"Hallowed be thy name" means that some of those titles are sacred to those who value the texts, therefore they are not spoken.
The idea being that names give the power of the entity to the user. In ancient societies it was believed that everyone had a common name and a secret name. If people got hold of your secret name they could have power over you, as with a demon, or an angel. Jesus's name is given in predictive script, Mary and Joseph were ordinary in that sense, so their names are more common.
"With the name of Yod He Vau He one commands Nature". Eliphas Levi

We call God by many names I am really not sure of the reason I have always just believed it was because His name is so powerful and His name has so many meanings. All Knowing, I Am, Alpha and Omega,The Beginning and The End, Jehovah Jira, Strong Tower, My Refuge, My Stregnth, My Protector and Father. There are so many more than that I would fill this space up with all of His names. Because He is EVERYTHING to all of us. His name is powerful and there are many names for Him.

Well to answer your Question Its is both Jehovah and Yahweh. In the original transcripts as you have seen it was JHVH or YHWH in some form as such this is due to the fact they unlike modern speech didn't use vowels but a,e are ones sounded mainly in such languages not written. Thats why you have come to the conclusion it was formed into Yahweh. Jehovah means "cause to become" and this word is more frequent in the Bible transcripts and is used more commonly. Thank goodness you asked such a question, glad your really thinking about the Bible. Props to you!!
