He is probably dreaming. We have had many pups cry in their sleep. I had one that cried doing anything, even eating. He grew out of it.

Our dog sometimes cries of barks in his sleep. He's just dreaming. If it is a young puppy, it may be because it is alone or away from its mom. When we adopted our dog the person at the shelter told us to let it sleep with a towel I dried my hair with or an old shirt I slept in. The scent will help it relax. Just make sure if is a towel or shirt you do not care about in case it gets chewed!

Just like kids pups get night terrors. If this is upsetting you gently wake him up. He will soon go back to sleep and dream of something more happy.

He may be sore from the shots. If he fought the vet alot, or if it's his first time, he will probably be very sore. I know my chihuahua is always sore after his shots, although he fights the vet like he's killing him.
I don't have anyting else to say, really, but I hope you figure something out!
Good Luck!

heh my puppy does that too, I think maybe she's just having a nightmare, she also usually does it while she's 'running in her sleep' Its not abnormal. I mean I've woken up a few times crying, I don't know why. Just something animals do.

It sounds like he's just dreaming! When dog's dream the cry, bark, growl, run, sleep with their eyes half open, twitch, etc... I don't think you should worry. If he seems real upset, just pet him lightly and say his name and he'll wake up!

Some puppies move and "talk" in their sleep. Like humans do.
