Yes, it is time to stop giving birthright citizenship to the children of illegal aliens. The children are used as "anchor" by their parents to obtain social benefits, and having American children makes it harder to deport the illegals.

Ending birthright citizenship for illegal aliens is essential to fixing our abused immigration system. Signing the petition in support of House Resolution H.R.1940 ending birthright citizenship is the first step. H.R.1940 was introduced in the House by Congressman Nathan Deal of Georgia.

Step two. Contact your representative and ask that they co-sponsor H.R.1940. Don’t allow them to ignore you. Phone them and email them until they decide whether or not they will co-sponsor the bill. Here is the current list of co-sponsors.
Next, we the American people, will lobby congress with phone calls, faxes, emails, and personal visits to their offices.

The 14th Amendment was made to give "full citizenship" to freed slaves in 1868.
Up until then they were considered "3/5" of a citizen.
If a foreign diplomat and his wife are posted to Washington, D.C. by their home country and that wife has a baby in the US it is not given US Citizenship but is a citizen of it's parent's home country.
I don't know how all this "anchor baby" stuff got started anyway.
Why do people think that if you sneak into a foreign country that your baby would be a citizen of that country?
The obvious "intent" of these woman is to get benefits to which otherwise they would not be entitled.
That's criminal intent and fraud and they are in commission of a crime (illegal entry) when they do it.
From the conversations I've had with Lawyers, we don't need to "amend" the constitution to stop this practice just "clarify" the 14th Amendment.
It wasn't written to aid people to break our laws but to make right a wrong by the freed slaves.
I don't think any of those children of illegal alien mothers are U.S. Citizens.
Our government needs to get this clarified and they need to "grandfather" it back to 1986 when we had that "one-time" amnesty.
Hospitals shouldn't be issuing birth certificates if they suspect that a woman is here illegally.

I've always thought the whole concept of "anchor babies" was a bad idea. I think that the supreme court needs to take a new look at the 14th amendment to the constitution and take a shot at interpreting the terms "subject to the jurisdiction thereof". I have a feeling that children of illegal aliens can arguably be considered not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. The current interpretation could certainly be overturned.

per danger you're able to study the regulation (or any information article on it) earlier identifying what it says? the present concept, backed via Bush, is termed the excellent Immigration Reform Act. The plan is to supply unlawful immigrants a "Z" visa, which permits them to stay interior the US, and in 8 years (of paying taxes) you may prepare to your green card. 5 years while they get their green card they might prepare to be a US citizen. this suggests it is takes a minimum of 13 years to be a US citizen. this suggests it is no longer "computerized", as you state on your question. The regulation additionally proposes to construct a wall, create a equipment to make optimistic all workers are criminal, and create a centred visitor worker application. all of us born interior the US has the excellent to prepare for US citizenship, even those human beings born to individuals who're traveling interior the US. that's no longer new, and the proposed regulation won't impact this interior the least.

I feel something must change... The law should be amended to read that if the parents are illegal, then the child is also illegal and a citizen of whatever country the parents have illegally left.

What Robert J describes is incredibly ridiculous and has to stop, yes.

What "King" is talking about is the 14 amendment- not the 13. Unless he is paralleling the undocumented with slaves....

I don't think that the constitution necessarily needs "changing'

H.R.1940 is a very dangerous bill. By removing illegal immigrants from the jurisdiction of the US, it will deny them birthright citizenship, but will also make it more difficult to deport them or prosecute them for any crimes they may commit.

There are hotels right on the border for pregnant Mexican women. Then ambulances bring them to the U.S. hospital for the anchor baby birth. It is ridiculous. It has to stop. And she will poop out another anchor in another 10 months. And the American taxpayers have to pay for it all. We need a fence now.
