I want to watch online movies in my (Analog) TV, can I do that through an HDMI Cable? I'm thinking connecting the laptop to my DVD Player with HDMI output socket via HDMI cable, then this should show reception on my TV... btw, I can't download the movies, so I have to watch them online..

I've never heard of a DVD player with a HDMI input. Anyway...

The first answer you received assumes you are in the UK. If you are in the US, read on...

Look at your laptop. does it have a s-video or VGA out port? If it has a s-video out and your TV has an s-video in, then you can use a s-video cable.

If you only have a VGA output, do a Google search for "VGA to TV converter", you will find some examples of converters for that situation.

See link below for other possibilities.

Connect Laptop To Analog Tv

First of all an Analog TV is bound not to have a connector so that is out of the equation. Second of all, why not just use a D-Sub to Scart lead? This is probably the best for what you want to do as nearly all televisions carry a Scart socket. To be honest for what you want to do, HDMI would not even be worth it even if you did have a digital TV - online movies don't really take advantage of the digital clarity as they are usually compressed.

If your laptop only carries a HDMI output, go to eBay or somewhere and find a HDMI to D-Sub converter and then get a D-Sub to Scart lead. It's a bit around the houses but it's probably best for what you want to do.
