Unfortunately, yes. I baked a peach cobbler for a friend who works at the TSA and dropped it off at her work site. They say I might be here in Guantanamo Bay for years.

No, but my mother did. It was quite an old piece, and most likely had been damaged at some point. Setting the hot dish on the cold counter top ordinarily would not be a problem, but if damaged, the sudden temperature contrast could cause the dish to shatter. And it need not be an older piece, either...it's just that Mom's was.

Hot glass? Stone counter?
But write to, or call Pyrex. They may replace it for you.

Yes, I had one crack by taking it out of the oven and placing it in a stainless steel sink. I would recommend getting wooden trivets (cooling racks) and always put your hot-out-of-the-oven Pyrex (or anything else) on those.

Man I thought I was the only one this has happened to. I would bake a lasagna and then think it was cool enough and then put it in the fridge and then the next time I go to bake or wash it it would crack. I thought I was doing something wrong. You are right in that the cold heat constrast and makes it fragile. Anchor Hockings are the worse for doing that.

nope, all my pyrex is old and have never even lost a piece due to dropping it. doesn't seem your counter could get cold enough to cause a thermal reaction.

Oh my.... I hope your alright. I am using my family 3rd generation bakeware. I haven't had a problem as of yet, but I do place my cookware on a dish towel when placing on my counter. I let it cool greatly before placing it in the refrigerator.

That is why it came with the wire frame or if you have had it awhile the instructions recommend placing it on a metal or wooden surface to prevent the rapid cool and break problem. You should have a warranty on it and usually they are really good about replacement if you followed all their recommended procedures. Good Luck!
