For the most part, lean pork is not (in my opinion) unhealthy.
This does NOT include bacon obviously.
Pork in these days is relatively lean and dense in protein.
I advise many patients that using this can provide a good alternative to fish and chicken (when they are cutting back on fat and carbs for a weight losing diet).
However, fish has the decided advantage of oemga 3 fatty acids which bless our bosies in many ways (lowers heart disease, arterial disease, may help protect against diseases like alzheimers and recently - omega 3's have been implicated in a reduction of macular degeneration - the most common cause of blindness in older Americans).
But pork has few adverse effects - go ahead and eat it in moderation.
One further thought - when traveling in Third World countries - I would avoid pork. Many undeveloped or underdeveloped countries do not employ the sanitation we enjoy here.
You are likely too young to remember when eating undercooked pork could lead to "tapeworms."
This is basically unheard of in the US...but in Mexico and Central/South America - there is still that possibility.

Pork with any fat removed is a low fat meat. Many consider it a good part of a low fat diet.

Pork has become increasingly lean in recent years. Some cuts are comparable to white meat chicken.
Trim all visible fat, and limit your serving size to 3-4 ounces (about the size of a deck of cards).

You can really eat any kind of food as long as you exercise portion control and count calories. How would the pork mix in with the rest of your diet today? Did you stay in your calorie goal or did you go over? You cant stop eating foods you normally would completely because then you will just crave them more and binge on them when you finally do decide to eat them

it depends what kind of pork and how much you eat of it. for example, one slice of bacon is not going to make you fat even thogh it is quite calorie dense. the best pork to eat on a diet is low fat canadian bacon, which is basicly lean ham. it has about the same alories as one serving of turkey slices. read labels and watch your portion size and you'll be fine.

it's about the same as beef. all things in moderation, limit meat intake to 3 oz a day on a low fat diet.
