They are NiMH batteries and are rechargeable. But could they still die to where they cannot be recharged anymore over time??

What do you mean the phone dies first? Does that mean that the batteries cannot be replaced? Is the phone itself fried beyond repair??

Yes!!! If you do not keep them charged every once in a while eventually the battery will not be able to recharge.

Yes, they can die. My Panasonic cordless phone is about 6 years old, and I had to replace the battery pack about 3 months ago.

It's not that the battery pack was dead, but it wouldn't hold a charge very long. If you left the phone off the charger for more than 12 hours, the battery would be dead.

yes, I have had several to lose any ability to charge. If the batteries are not re-charged often and left to fully discharge , a dead battery will result a lot sooner than many people think. It will take only about 8-12 months to totally destroy the battery.

I think so. My last cell phone was like that. I charged it when I first got it without letting it die first. It didn't last long at all. I imagine that cordless phones are similar to that. Good luck!

Yes, any rechargeable battery can, and will, eventually reach the end of its useful life.

The manufacturers publish figures for the minimum number of charge/discharge cycles which their batteries will provide.
