THe first responder was correct with what she told you. AAROM stands for Active assistive range of motion. Using the wrist as an example, the person would either flex or extend her wrist as much as they can with the help of their other limb or a therapist. In PROM, or passive range of motion, the therapist would move their wrist up and down until the point they are unable to move it or until it becomes painful for the patient, and in AROM - active range of motion, the patient would move their own wrist up and down as much as she can. Did the therapist give her exercises and not explain them or is it just what the doc ordered on a script? Good luck!

You could be a dietician or sport nutritionist, a personal trainer, an athletic trainer, or some type of group exercise instructor. Also, my friend went to school for kinesiology and got a job at a hospital as a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation specialist. Basically that's just a big name for a person that helps people do PT/OT after heart surgery. She didn't have a Master's and still got a job there, so it's worth a shot. Hope this helps!

AROM = Active Range of Motion
PROM = Passive Range of Motion

active range of motion, the client moves at command
passive range of motion the technician moves the client

range of motion is done to the extremeties usually, and also the back.
