Bufferin contains aspirin as its main active ingredient but has coating which consist of Calcium Carbonate, Magnesium carbonate, Magnesium oxide and other non medicinal ingredients.
It is an Aspirin buffered with coatings thus named "Bufferin".
They made such coated aspirin product to protect against stomach upset. Plain spirin causes stomach upset but the coatings in Bufferin will prevent that.

Bufferin is coated with a substance to neutralize acid. Otherwise, medicinally it is the same as any other brand of Asprin (Bayer, St. John's, etc).
