I haven't eaten much of this for years. I was wondering why when I smell fries or cake or something, I don't have any desire to eat it? Do I just not want it anymore? Curious.

The addiction cycle is not there since it has been so long. Many of those foods actually are addictive because of sugar, high fructose corn syrup(HFCS), MSG (monosodium glutamate), and other things our bodies will crave if we give to them. HFCS will shut off your connection to the brain that tells you when enough is enough. MSG does horrible things to the craving sensors and brain connections. Sugar actually feeds yeast in the body (yeast occurs naturally), so when you start to starve the yeast it will cry for it. People with yeast imbalance will crave sugar so badly that they are willing to drive thirty minutes for a candy bar!!

It's a good thing that you don't crave any of those things. Keep up the healthy habits.

These foods give a surge to your insulin. Insulin when too high, will cause your glucose to drop too low. In turn, your body will crave the same junk that caused the insulin embalance. So what happens when you feed the craving? You will cause a repeat in the craving. Avoid the foods that cause this craving and remember, a slice of bread will cause a craving for oreo cookies. So one form of sugar will cause you to want another form. It is a vicious cycle. Stop the cycle by eating foods that stabilize your insulin such as a piece of fish and broccoli then you won't crave ice cream. As a matter of fact if you stay away from those sugary carby things long enough, they will make you ill when you try to eat them again.

The additives in foods can cause food cravings. If you don't eat them, you don't get the cravings. I don't know specific additives but corn syrup is a big one.
