The Golden Retriever is a beautiful, sturdy, well-proportioned dog with a feathered, medium-length, cream to golden-colored coat. (The coat is not suppose to be red.) The outer coat is water-repellent and the undercoat is dense. The head is broad, with a tapering, but wide, powerful muzzle. It has a scissors bite and a clear frontal stop. The nose is black and the kindly eyes are brown with dark rims. The ears are medium-sized and pendant. Its neck and thighs are muscular and the chest is broad. The tail is long, but never curled.
Temperament
These are lovable, well-mannered, intelligent dogs with a great charm. They are easily trained, and always patient and gentle with children. Loyal, confident, sweet and eager to please. It is active, loving and an outstanding family dog. Golden Retrievers enjoy pleasing their masters, so obedience training can be fun. They excel in obedience competitions. Friendly with everyone, including other dogs, the Golden Retriever has very little, if any, guarding instincts. While unlikely to attack, Goldens make good watchdogs, loudly signaling a stranger's approach. This breed needs to be around people to be happy. If isolated from human contact, or left alone for long periods of time, the Golden Retriever may become mischievous. They can be over-exuberant and distractible. Some of the Golden's talents are hunting, tracking, retrieving, narcotics detection, agility, competitive obedience, and performing tricks. These dogs also love to swim.

Golden retrievers are the third smartest dog in the world. they are always friendly and compassionette (excuse my spelling I'm being careless today) they are kind and loyal and are good with kids except some lick them too much... BUT Retrievers are good.... uhh whats the word I'm looking for... sorta like partners... they'll stick with you no matter what.. I watched on the news how the man was shot while walking his golden retriever.. Did the dog run away?? NOOOOO the dog sat right beside him and barked until someone came out and notcied the catastophe!! heres another story
This man, and his wife lived in an apartment with their pet golden retriever... A one day the wife went for a trip to new york for a week leaving the doggy and husband behind.. a day after she left, the husband cracked his neck harshly and paralized himself on the floor.. the little golden retriever yank the man onto the bed, and grabbed the hand towel and dipped it in the toilet and laid it on his owners head.. this cooled the man down and gave him water to survive. when the toilet was empty the dog used his water dish.. the dog did this for 6 whole days until the wife came back and called the ambulance.. the golden retriever had saved his life...
Hope this helps you know the good facts about golden retrievers...

Golden Retrievers are wonderful dogs. They are very friendly, intelligent, and playful. They are good with children and other pets. They can be trained fairly easily. I have a 5 month old Golden pup and he was mostly housebroken by 3 months. He learned basic commands very quickly. He's loads of fun. This is my 3rd Golden.
They are very energetic and require lots of attention as puppies and young dogs. They chew on EVERYTHING and continue to do so until about 18 months, which is generally when they start becoming "good" dogs.
They have a long hair coat, so they shed continuously. You need to brush them several times a week. Their ears also need to be cleaned on a regular basis to avoid infection. Seizures are common for this breed, as is cancer.
Parents should be screened for hip & elbow dysplasia, as well as heart and eye problems.

Well this can be a very long answer but I'll try to keep it short.
Golden's are very loyal to their families, smart, great water dogs, will protect you if necessary, loving to all, friendly, enduring, funny when your feeling low, not to hard to train, need obedience training, full of energy when they are pups!
They can grow to be almost 85 pound for a male. 75 for a female. They do have 2 main sheds a year from winter to spring then from fall into winter.
They love their owners unconditionally! They love most other dogs, love long walks when they are old enough. They love to play fetch, or catch a Frisbee!
I do not recomend getting 2 pups at the same time though. One is a hand full and then once you have trained one than think about another.
Please look for a very reputible breder for one of these fine dogs. They can have health problems and if your seriously looking than find a very good breeder, one who knows her dogs very well and does all necessary health tests on both the dam and sire to ensure a quality pup.
Good luck in your search!
I am currently owned by 3 Golden's my self! :)
1-4 yr. old
1-3yr, old
1- 11 week old pup!

They are perfect dogs except for the issue of shedding. They are loyal, dependable, easy to train, friendly, perfect dogs. There are health issues in the breed. They tend to have hip issues and allergy issues, so be sure to watch for those. They do shed profusely. And they only live about 12 years whereas some smaller dogs live longer. But for temperament, they are perfect and beautiful to boot.
